Overview - Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced
Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager
to lead high-end residential and hospitality interior design projects from concept through installation.
Working closely with firm leadership, this role will oversee all phases of the design process, including space planning, design development, furniture and finish selection, and final installation.
The ideal candidate is both a creative visionary and strong project leader with deep knowledge of interior design, custom furnishings, and vendor coordination.
This role will manage multiple projects, oversee junior design staff, and serve as a key liaison between clients, architects, contractors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all phases of the design process including space planning, schematic design, design development, and furniture/finish selection
Lead design projects from initial concept through final installation
Represent the firm in meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and vendors
Communicate design vision and direction to junior staff while delegating tasks and overseeing timelines
Create and maintain project budgets, schedules, and staffing plans
Evaluate project scope, feasibility, and resource needs to ensure successful execution
Oversee design integration, furniture specifications, and finish selections to ensure cohesive project outcomes
Review and verify proposals created by the design team and oversee proposal submission and approvalsCoordinate with vendors, contractors, and clients to address project issues and maintain progress
Oversee project installations and ensure timelines and quality standards are met
Maintain ongoing communication with principals regarding project status, custom orders, and design decisions
Build long-term relationships with clients, vendors, and design showrooms through consistent communication and project updates
Develop strong working knowledge of custom furniture, materials, and specialty finishes
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture (Associate Degree considered with relevant experience)
7–10+ years of experience working in a residential or hospitality interior design firm
Proven experience managing design teams and delegating project tasks
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and timelines simultaneously
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Ability to work in a fast‑paced and collaborative design environment
Demonstrated portfolio of successful high‑end interior design projects
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Software & Technical Skills
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office
Experience with Studio Designer preferred
Knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit is a plus but not required
