Duty Overview Incumbent will operate under the supervision of the Boat House Manager and MWR Programs Chief.
Responsibilities (April – October)
Assist with planning, developing, organizing, and carrying out the MWR Boat House program for active-duty military, dependents, retirees, and authorized civilians.
Assist Boat House Manager with rigging, maintenance, and troubleshooting of outboard and kicker engines.
Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining all electronic equipment, 12 v electrical, fuel and navigation systems, and other mechanical needs on 23’ Pacific morale boats.
Assist with the various functions of the Boat House program to include private boating (wet/dry/ball moorage), boat rentals, camper and ATV trailer rentals, and resale operations.
Responsible for driving, trailering, washing, refueling, and basic maintenance on small boats, RV and ATV trailers, small engines (lawn mowers, weed whackers, etc.) and other MWR mechanical equipment.
Conduct routine inspection of equipment and boating facilities, and inform Manager of need to submit requests for maintenance, repair, removal, etc.
Conduct boating safety orientation courses and plan and conduct special events such as classes and fishing tournaments.
Assist with the safety and cleanliness of the entire boating area.
Plan and prepare for tsunami to ensure marina assets are protected and secured.
Operate 2½‑ton truck and forklift as required to relocate boats, trailers, equipment, etc.
Act as shift lead for up to six NAF and Active‑Duty Coast Guard staff assigned to the boating operations.
Responsibilities (November – March)
Assist all MWR facility managers with planning, developing, organizing, and carrying out the MWR mission for active‑duty military, dependents, retirees, and authorized civilians.
Assist with various responsibilities of the managers to include maintenance on equipment and gear across all facilities, updating inventories, performing manual labor tasks involving the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment.
While working at any MWR facility, welcome customers and maintain product knowledge.
React to all concerns of customers quickly with a sense of importance.
Communicate information regarding product availability.
Uphold predefined customer service standards.
May complete financial transactions using a POS register and credit card machines.
Assist with proper completion of financial, property, safety, personnel, marketing, training and other reports as required by management.
Work with Marketing to publicize regular programs and special events.
Adhere to safety regulations and standards. Use required safety equipment and observe safe work procedures.
Promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Required
Experience in boating to include small boat handling and boat trailering operations.
At least 1 year’s experience in boat engine and systems maintenance and repair.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Valid Driver’s license.
Experience using basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver) and power tools (saws, power drills, etc.).
Preferred (in Addition To The Minimum)
Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, organizing, and carrying out recreation programs.
One (1) year experience in planning, developing, organizing, and maintaining a recreational boating program or marina operations or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Honda Marine Technician Certification.
Any Marine Technician Certification.
