Job Description In partnership with the Executive Director, the Wellness Director leads the design and execution of a comprehensive, whole‑person wellness program that supports residents in living healthy, independent, and purposeful lives. This role champions a mind‑body‑soul approach to aging, reframing it as a stage of growth, strength, and continued learning. Serving Independent Living and Assisted Living residents, the Wellness Director drives engagement, measurable outcomes, and alignment with organizational standards while fostering a high‑performance culture of wellness across the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Execute a comprehensive wellness curriculum addressing physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, social, environmental, and vocational dimensions.
Personally deliver wellness programs (minimum 50% direct engagement), including fitness classes, cognitive sessions, and educational lectures.
Source and manage external experts, clinicians, and guest presenters to enrich programming.
Design purposeful outings aligned with movement, creativity, and social connection goals.
Lead digital engagement initiatives, including implementation and optimization of ZestConnect and related wellness platforms.
Coach residents in digital literacy to enhance independence and engagement.
Recruit, mentor, and oversee wellness staff, instructors, transportation personnel, and contracted partners.
Track and report key performance indicators including participation rates, satisfaction scores, digital utilization, and wellness outcomes.
Manage department budget, maintain wellness facilities and equipment, and oversee transportation logistics.
Conduct resident discovery interviews during onboarding to personalize wellness engagement.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Wellness, Kinesiology, Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Hospitality, Nutrition, or related Health field.
Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in wellness, life enrichment, fitness, or hospitality programming; senior living experience preferred.
Proven experience leading fitness, cognitive, and creative programs for older adults.
Must hold or obtain within 12–18 months of employment at least one nationally recognized wellness certification (ICAA Leadership in Wellness Management preferred; Chapman WellCert; CCWS®; NBC-HWC; ACE/NASM Senior Fitness Specialist; NWI CWP, Fitness or Nutrition Certification).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Tech-forward and confident teaching digital tools.
Operationally strong in managing budgets, schedules, and logistics.
Metrics-driven and data-informed.
