About the Position Be part of the team that powers 9,200 square miles of Maricopa County with critical public safety communications that keep communities safe. As a Radio Communications Analyst, you’ll configure and program radios, train users, troubleshoot communication issues, and maintain vital programming records for departments across the County, including the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. We Require

Two years experience in radio systems support, preferably in a public safety or government environment

Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Communications Technology, Information Systems, or related field

A combination of post‑secondary education and/or job‑related experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.

We Also Value

Proficiency in two‑way radio programming (Motorola preferred)

Familiarity with trunked radio systems, P25 digital standards, encryption, and simulcast technologies

An understanding of RF fundamentals

Proven ability to maintain detailed inventory records

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills

Strong attention to detail and good documentation habits

Job Contributions

Program and update portable, mobile, and base radios using vendor‑specific software (e.g., Motorola CPS, Radio Management)

Deploy firmware updates

Provide support for end users, including troubleshooting radio issues and coordinating repairs

Develop, maintain, and distribute code plugs and programming templates for various user roles and departments

Maintain detailed programming records, inventory databases, and change logs

Deprogram radios and prepare them for disposal

Train personnel on radio usage, features, and operational protocols

Generate reports on radio firmware and programming versions

Working Conditions

Exerting 50‑100 lbs. occasionally, 10‑25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10‑20 lbs. constantly

The work will occur in an office and field environment

While performing the duties & responsibilities the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations

Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
