About This Role The Associate Director - Field Medical Capability Lead is responsible for building and maintaining the operational and tactical infrastructure that enables Field Medical teams to execute consistently and effectively across North America. This role includes end-to-end onboarding and readiness processes for all field and HQ medical hires, ensuring they are equipped with the systems knowledge, scientific engagement behaviors, and tactical skills needed for success. It translates strategic frameworks into practical tools, playbooks, and workflows, manages congress and launch readiness plans, and oversees resources such as checklists, trackers, and centralized hubs. By partnering with Therapeutic Area leadership, Medical Strategy, and Global Training & Excellence, the Field Capability Lead ensures seamless integration of operational processes with scientific objectives to drive excellence at scale. What You'll Do Own end-to-end onboarding and readiness processes for all field and HQ medical hires, including workflows, milestones, assessments, and centralized resources.

Deliver onboarding content covering systems (Veeva CRM, Power BI, documentation workflows), operational processes, and core skills in collaboration with Global Training & Excellence.

Maintain onboarding KPIs, trackers, playbooks, and readiness status to ensure new hires are fully equipped.

Translate strategic frameworks into practical tools, job aids, and workflows; maintain and evolve tactical resources such as KIQ updates, STP documentation, and the Medical Playbook.

Manage field-facing communications for system and process updates, including release notes, FAQs, and Office Hours.

Own congress readiness approach and expectations across all TAs, including pre-congress checklists, briefing tools, engagement templates, and post-congress insights templates.

Support launch readiness for new assets and indications by developing and executing plans, toolkits, timelines, and role-based enablement resources.

Coordinate systems readiness for Veeva CRM, dashboards, and STP updates to ensure field tools are launch-ready in coordination with Field Systems Lead.

Partner with Therapeutic Area and Medical Strategy teams to align operational enablement with scientific objectives.

Continuously improve onboarding, readiness, and tactical resources to ensure consistent execution and compliance across NAM.

Who You Are You are an experienced Medical Affairs professional with deep understanding of Field Medical ways of working. You bring a continuous improvement mindset, strong systems thinking, and the ability to lead change across a matrix. You are a detail-oriented, operationally strong professional who thrives on building infrastructure and processes that enable consistent execution. You have a passion for onboarding, training, and readiness, and you excel at translating strategy into practical tools and workflows for field teams Required Skills Advanced degree in scientific discipline (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, NPs, PAs) required.

MBA and/or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

3+ years Field Medical experience as a MSL / MVL with demonstrated leadership experience, including success in mentoring and coaching peers required.

7+ years relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience required.

Expertise and understanding of the variety of roles within Medical Affairs and their supporting processes.

Experience leading and influencing project teams through past successful implementation.

Experience with tracking process performance, monitoring processes using dashboards and technologies preferred.

Experience with documentation standards and good documentation principles/best practices.

Strong project management skills, including projects delivered across a matrix.

Able to manage multiple complex projects across multiple departments and stakeholders.

Ability to oversee creation of strategic, long-range plans and implement them successfully.

Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the organization.

Preferred Skills Experience supporting congress and launch readiness for field medical teams.

Prior experience developing tactical frameworks, playbooks, and job aids.

Change management experience and ability to drive adoption of new processes.

Familiarity with Biogen's Scientific Engagement Model and Field Medical Excellence Behaviors (or similar frameworks).

Job Level: Management Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $162,000.00-$223,000.00 Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
