Description

Lead the development, implementation, and execution of global sourcing strategies for all Brands Packaging with total spend in excess of 800 million annually, with spend across the regions, including the Americas, EMEA and APAC. Key packaging components include rigid glass/plastic, tubes, cartons, bags and metal.

Supporting the corporate, brands and supply chain strategies and objectives, duties will include setting strategic vision and ensuring the implementation of the procurement strategies including a balanced scorecard approach to supplier/supply base management, organizational development in sourcing competencies and skills, risk and contract management, and negotiations, taking into account technology and innovation opportunities as well as end to end supply chain costs. Key interface points will be the Brands, Packaging Development, Marketing, regional supply chain leaders, and Corporate Innovation.

  • Lead an agile and cost effective global packaging supply network that is organized to drive added value through innovaton, agility, best cost, service and quality, business continuirt ad sustainability to our Global Supply Chain and Brands.
  • Working collaboratively throughout the value chain, drive innovation, agility, cost, quality, business continuity and sustainability through Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Relationship Management and flawless execution.
  • Develop, advocate, and implement sourcing strategies for the packaging area to achieve short and long-term procurement strategy and targets.
  • Drive supplier segmentation and where appropriate, rationalize the number of suppliers utilized to drive critical mass for innovation and volume leverage, while maintaining assured supply at high quality and service level standards.
  • Maintain and provide a best intelligency of industry best practices and technology trends to team members and business partners.
  • Develop and lead the strategy to mitigate Supplier and industrial risks within the packaging area.
  • Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities, and efficiencies. Work collaboratively with team members to prioritize and drive implementation.
  • Lead the budget process across Brands for the packaging area.
  • In partnership with package development and Brands Lead sustainability efforts across the entire packaging portfolio.
  • In collaboration with the innovation groups, evaluate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new technologies and markets as dictated by business requirements.
  • Develop staff through training and succession planning processes to maximize their potential for the benefit of individual and company.
  • Overall contract approvals as appropriate.
  • Budgetary Authority: Strategicaly manage more than $800 million in spend, distributed globally; Responsible for generating year on year supply chain cost savings to re-invest in the business.
  • Act as a change agent, helping to develop a strategic point of view within the Packaging team and with partners in the Brands and other functions. Train and develop the team to think more globally.
  • Very importantly, act as an 'ambassador' for the Estée Lauder Companies social contract, relationships and cultural values, and business ethics in dealing with colleagues, external partners, and customers. Recognize that operating within the Estée Lauder culture (the 'how') is as critical as the delivery (the 'what').

Qualifications

  • Fifteen years purchasing along with five years of international sourcing and procurement experience, preferably in the Food & Beverage, FMCG, or Packaging sectors.
  • Ideally with successful packaging procurement experience in a global, multi-brand, multi-channels environment, with high 'look and feel' quality befitting luxury brands.
  • Successful track record of working closely with packaging development, product innovation, and supplier technology adaptation with early supplier engagement is important. Technical savvy is highly valued for this position.
  • Experience in successfully rationalizing an extended supply base while assuring continued assured supply is important. Taking into account the impact of rationalization on long term, essentially dedicated suppliers and dealing with these situations within the bounds of Estée Lauder's social contract and relationship values is critical.
  • SAP or similar ERP experience preferred.
  • Must be a high energy and effective, hands–on leader, with strong business acumen.
  • Must be highly intelligent, able to both conceive effective strategies and to implement them tactically.
  • Must be a fact based decision maker, pragmatic, resourceful, and proactive.
  • Must be resilient and decisive, with excellent problem solving skills and a strong team orientation.
  • Must be an effective communicator who is self–motivated and able to inspire confidence and respect, motivating both direct and indirect reporting organizations.
  • Must enjoy learning, and be passionate about continuous improvement.
  • Must have a 'can–do' and 'will–do' attitude with respect to accomplishing goals, making the numbers, and satisfying the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Must exhibit the highest personal and professional ethics. Master's degree or equivalent preferred. Bachelor's degree required
