About the Role

SAIC is seeking a growth-driven, strategic leader to oversee business development efforts in the Defense Space Market, focusing on Global Mission Data Dominance growth opportunities with the U.S. Space Force (USSF). Reporting to the VP of Defense/Civil Space Business Development and Strategy, the Director will drive strategy, capture efforts, and customer engagement to support the Air Force, Space, and Intel Business Group's growth objectives for Space Battle Management, Command and Control opportunities. The individual will lead all SAIC efforts related to space C2 and mission integration with the US Space Force and build relationships across SAIC’s matrixed organization to develop and deliver enterprise-level opportunities, achieving sustained growth and profitability in the fast-evolving defense space market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Development – Identify, qualify, and initiate capture activities to align with Air Force, Space, and Intel Business Group goals.
  • Strategic Leadership – Shape and execute long-term growth strategies in areas like Space C2 and mission integration.
  • Capture and Teaming – Develop key elements such as teaming, price-to-win strategies, capture plans, win tactics, and value propositions.
  • Collaboration – Foster strong internal and external relationships to integrate SAIC’s space solutions across its customer base.
  • Customer Engagement – Build high-level partnerships with government and industry decision-makers to position SAIC as a trusted mission integrator.
  • Market Positioning – Strengthen SAIC’s brand through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and market visibility efforts.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in industry business development activities for space lines of business, including strategy, pipeline development, selling services and solutions, front-end customer engagement, capture, and proposal development for US government opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical or business‑aligned field.
  • Existing network of customer contacts in the space community, including the US Space Force, US Air Force, Space Development Agency, Space Rapid Capabilities Office, and other DoD agencies.
  • Outstanding record of success in leading teams to shape new business opportunities and improve bid and program profitability, with emphasis on capture strategy and proposal development.
  • Demonstrated thought‑leadership role in space‑related domains. Superior oral and written communication skills required.
  • Experience responding to solicitations under the Federal Acquisition Regulation and proficiency in industry BD best practices (e.g., Shipley, BD‑CMMI) for proposals to government clients.
  • Immediately eligible for Top Secret clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Space Force classified sensitive compartmented information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) activities.
  • Experience with business development for differentiated solutions for Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I).
  • Experience applying Digital Engineering / Model Based Systems Engineering for mission integration of space systems.
