Overview
The YMCA of Greater Houston is currently seeking a Program Director-Sports, Enrichment, & Special Events for the Foster Family Y. Develops, organizes and implements high quality Sports and Enrichment programs for the Foster Family Y focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility and designed to make the YMCA the place for individuals and families in the community. The position is also responsible for overseeing the center's special events.
Responsibilities
- Offers high quality programs through innovative program development.
- Ensures programs comply with YMCA of Greater Houston standards and operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures all direct staff have completed necessary certifications to be in compliance.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Works closely with supervisor to plan and execute social media plan for the center.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Monitors program registration and accounts receivable.
- Purchases and maintains program supplies.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs, including administering program evaluations and compiling statistics.
- Identifies opportunities in the community for the YMCA to engage and connect. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Assists with Board Committee meetings as directed by Executive Director.
- Participates in the center’s Cause-Driven Leader on Duty (CDLOD) schedule.
- Other duties in support of the role or as assigned.
Sports
- Establishes sports programming for youth including youth sports clinics and youth sports seasons.
- Creates teams from registrations. Organizes and conducts orientation meetings for parents and coaches.
- Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules.
- Communicate consistently with participants and families to ensure they are informed of schedules, game times, locations, and any program updates or changes.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities. Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities for sports programming and sets up sports equipment for games and practices.
- Recruits volunteer coaches. Develops and implements program specific volunteer trainings for volunteer coaches.
Enrichment
- Establishes value-added and fee-based programming for youth and families that may include dance, martial arts, ninja, art, etc.
- Designs and implements enrichment lessons and STEM activities in programs.
- Creates class schedules to ensure member needs are met.
Special Events
- Plan and coordinate approximately 10 special events that support member engagement and community outreach. Events include Healthy Kids Day, YMCA Operation Backpack, Fall Festival, and YMCA Angel Tree.
- Manage event logistics including space, coordinating equipment, vendors and communication.
