Director, Applications and Data Solutions

Medbio, LLC, Town of Orchard Park, NY, United States

Summary of Function

Medbio is evolving from a centralized IT structure to a modern, domain‑led operating model aligned with our growth strategy. We are seeking a Director, Applications & Data Solutions to establish enterprise data discipline, strengthen business application governance, and build scalable reporting standards across a multi‑site manufacturing organization. This role combines strategic ownership with hands‑on execution. The Director will define enterprise data standards, lead CRM selection and implementation, and govern non‑ERP business applications while personally contributing to key initiatives. The environment includes strong operational knowledge but limited formal data standardization. This role will create clarity, structure, and accountability where it does not yet consistently exist.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Enterprise Data & Reporting Leadership

  • Establish and own enterprise data definitions, key performance indicators, and “sources of truth”
  • Deliver a focused set of standardized leadership reports used consistently in decision‑making
  • Reduce spreadsheet dependency by introducing reporting governance and documentation
  • Define and implement a scalable self‑service reporting strategy
  • Shape enterprise data architecture in partnership with ERP and Infrastructure leadership
  • Personally contribute to data modeling, report definition, and solution design where appropriate

Applications Leadership (Non‑ERP)

  • Own roadmap, standards, and governance for non‑ERP business applications
  • Lead selection and MVP implementation of a CRM platform
  • Ensure application configuration supports disciplined data structures
  • Evaluate and rationalize the existing application footprint
  • Partner with Quality and Operations on system‑related process decisions

Microsoft Platform Stewardship

  • Define standards for use of Microsoft ecosystem tools (e.g., reporting, automation, collaboration)
  • Guide evaluation of analytics and CRM platforms while remaining tool‑agnostic
  • Partner with infrastructure/Cyber leadership, who retains security and tenant administration ownership

Architecture & Integration

  • Define integration patterns between ERP, CRM, quality systems, and reporting platforms
  • Ensure cross‑system data flows are reliable and understandable
  • Balance near‑term execution with long‑term scalability

Building Standards & Future Capability

  • Introduce disciplined operating mechanics for data governance and application ownership
  • Establish documentation and accountability processes where informal practices exist
  • Operate initially as a high‑leveraged individual contributor
  • Over time, help shape the structure of a small supporting team as maturity increases

Operating Model & Authority

  • Reports to the Vice President of IT and AI Enablement, who leads Medbio’s enterprise technology strategy
  • Holds formal decision rights over enterprise data definitions and reporting standards
  • Owns governance of non‑ERP business applications
  • Responsible for standards and outcomes, not sole execution of all technical work
  • ERP platform ownership remains with the ERP Leader
  • Infrastructure and security ownership remain with Infrastructure/Cybersecurity leadership

What Success Looks Like (12–24 Months)

  • Clear, trusted enterprise reporting standards adopted across departments
  • Reduced ambiguity around core business metrics
  • CRM implemented with disciplined data structures
  • Documented governance processes for applications and reporting
  • A roadmap defined for future execution capacity and scalability

Organizational Relationships: The position reports directly to the Vice President of IT and AI Enablement and operates as a peer to ERP and Infrastructure/Cybersecurity leadership.

Experience and/or Educational Requirements

  • Experience leading applications, data, or analytics initiatives in a mid‑sized organization
  • Demonstrated success building standards where ambiguity existed
  • Experience selecting and implementing business systems (e.g., CRM)
  • Strong understanding of enterprise reporting and data governance principles
  • Comfortable operating hands‑on while thinking architecturally
  • Experience working with external partners or consultants
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to business leaders
  • Familiarity with Microsoft‑based business platforms and reporting tools
  • Awareness of automation and emerging AI capabilities as practical business enablers

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work and perform what would be considered standard practices for this type of position in the industry.

Salary range $160,000-$200,000 annually.
