Director of Software Engineering – Leading Fixed Income Hedge Fund - New York

My client, a highly regarded and well-capitalised hedge fund, is seeking a hands-on Director of Software Engineering to lead technology delivery for their residential investment business in New York.

Sitting at the heart of a complex mortgage finance platform, you’ll take ownership of multiple development teams supporting business-critical systems across residential lending, aggregation, and investment operations. This is a senior engineering leadership role with full accountability for both strategic initiatives and day-to-day platform stability.

My client is specifically looking for a technical leader who can operate at depth. You will remain actively engaged in architecture and design decisions, guide engineering standards, and drive modernisation across a hybrid cloud/on-prem environment.

You will partner closely with senior business stakeholders across the Residential desk, aligning technology strategy with commercial objectives while ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable systems across the full application stack.

Deep domain knowledge in mortgage finance or residential lending platforms is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success delivering complex enterprise initiatives while balancing production stability is essential.
