Overview
Director, Software Test role at BD. We are seeking a visionary and experienced leader to head the global software testing organization for the Diagnostics Solutions business, focusing on quality and reliability of software powering laboratory instruments and the enterprise informatics platform.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and lead the execution of strategic software testing priorities that align with the product roadmap and business objectives. Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
- Comprehensive Test Strategy: Define and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive test strategy that covers embedded software, the enterprise informatics platform, end-to-end workflow testing, and functional, regression, performance, security, and usability testing.
- Agile and DevOps Transformation: Champion agile testing best practices, enabling effective CI/CD and automated testing to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
- Automation Framework: Drive development and adoption of a robust, scalable test automation framework to improve team efficiency and product quality.
- Metrics and Reporting: Establish KPIs and metrics to track testing progress, quality trends, and team performance; provide regular reports to senior leadership on software quality.
- Collaboration: Work with software development, product management, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to align on quality objectives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure testing activities comply with regulatory standards within the design controls and Quality Management System.
- Tools and Infrastructure: Evaluate and select testing tools and infrastructure to support the testing strategy and productivity.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing global team of software test engineers and managers; foster a collaborative and innovative environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years in software quality assurance with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing a software test or QA team
- Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, IVD, or related healthcare) and in developing/implementing a software test strategy for a complex product ecosystem (embedded and enterprise software)
- Strong background in agile development and agile testing practices
- Expertise in test automation, including building/implementing automation frameworks
- In-depth knowledge of software testing principles and methodologies; experience with functional, non-functional, and integration testing
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical devices (e.g., FDA QSR, ISO 13485)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
- Experience with test management and automation tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Selenium, Appium)
- Experience with CI/CD tools and principles

Compensation
Salary information: $163,000.00 - $293,300.00 USD Annual (range may vary by location and experience).
