
Medical Science Liaison

Our client is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing therapies to address unmet needs in medical and aesthetic conditions. They are seeking a field-based Medical Science Liaison to join their Medical Affairs team. Reporting to the Vice President of Medical Affairs, this role focuses on building scientific relationships with key opinion leaders and physicians, supporting clinical development and launch readiness, and generating field insights across a dermatology pipeline. This role covers the West Coast territory and is responsible for regional scientific engagement and field-based medical affairs execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead medical affairs activities across the West Coast region, including engagement with key opinion leaders, clinical site support, and field insight collection.
- Develop and implement a territory engagement strategy, identifying and prioritizing key stakeholders such as physicians, clinical investigators, and dermatology experts.
- Conduct balanced, non-promotional scientific discussions related to disease state education, clinical data, and pipeline developments.
- Represent the company at medical congresses, advisory boards, and regional educational events.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure coordinated execution of initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of medical materials such as slide presentations, training resources, FAQs, and field tools.
- Support internal education efforts related to product science, competitive landscape insights, and dermatology knowledge.
- Ensure all external interactions adhere to medical governance policies, company procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Accurately document field activities and stakeholder interactions in CRM systems.
- Monitor and report territory activity, stakeholder engagement, and field insights to Medical Affairs leadership.
Qualifications
- Advanced scientific degree required (PharmD, PhD, NP, PA, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in a comparable field-based scientific role; dermatology or aesthetics experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish credibility with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a field-based role while collaborating effectively within a team environment
- Familiarity with clinical development processes, medical compliance requirements, and CRM documentation systems
- Based in the West Coast with the ability to travel up to 60%
