Position Summary
As the Group Director, People Strategy, you will play a critical leadership role in driving the evolution of our workforce strategy and organizational capability in the era of AI-enabled transformation. You will lead a high‑impact team of Directors embedded across business segments and act as a key strategic partner to the SVP of End‑to‑End People. This role is uniquely positioned to catalyze the reinvention of our People practices, ensuring that our operating models, talent strategies, and execution frameworks are agile, data‑informed, and built to scale with the rapid technological disruption fueled by artificial intelligence and digital agents.
What you’ll do
Leadership & Strategy- Lead a high‑impact team supporting distinct business segments, ensuring alignment, clarity, and consistent delivery of evolving strategic priorities.
- Partner closely with the SVP, End‑to‑End People, to advance AI‑driven initiatives, including talent transformation, workforce intelligence, and operating model redesign.
- Act as a change agent, embedding an innovation‑forward mindset into People Strategy & Operations, and helping the function evolve to meet the demands of a dynamic, technology‑powered business.
- Collaborate with the VP, People Strategy & Operations, to build team capabilities that reflect AI fluency, systems thinking, and adaptive leadership.
- Prioritize and execute critical people initiatives that align with Walmart’s AI transformation roadmap.
- Lead the design and adoption of intelligent people systems, tools, and processes that leverage automation, AI, and digital agents to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver clear, compelling communications and executive narratives that connect People strategy to business transformation.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner across segment People teams, COEs, Tech, and Business Leaders to co‑create scalable and AI‑compatible solutions.
- Translate segment‑specific challenges into enterprise‑ready innovations, ensuring readiness for AI‑powered business models and workforce capabilities.
- Lead with influence and empathy, building trust and momentum for change across a matrixed organization.
- Drive operational rigor and innovation by incorporating AI‑driven insights, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation into workforce planning, talent reviews, and capability building.
- Establish consistent, repeatable frameworks that enable speed, adaptability, and enterprise alignment while maximizing digital enablement.
- Foster an operating model that promotes transparency, simplification, and readiness for continuous transformation.
- Champion a culture of AI literacy, digital dexterity, and continuous learning across the People Strategy & Operations team.
- Create tools and knowledge‑sharing systems to enable faster decision‑making and enterprise‑wide visibility into workforce transformation.
- Serve as a role model for curiosity, collaboration, and innovation.
What you’ll bring

- 10+ years of experience in HR Strategy, People Operations, or organizational transformation roles within large, matrixed organizations.
- Experience in top‑tier management consulting or advisory roles, with a track record of guiding large‑scale organizational design, transformation, or operational improvement efforts a plus.
- Proven success leading strategic, cross‑functional initiatives in dynamic and evolving environments.
- Deep understanding of organizational design, talent strategy, change management, and operational scaling.
- Strong leadership and people management experience, including building high‑performing, future‑ready teams.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills for senior executive audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in HR, Business, or Organizational Development preferred.

Annual salary range: $160,000.00 – $320,000.00, with potential for performance bonuses and equity awards.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Journalism, Business, or related field and 7 years’ experience in human resources, communication, journalism, business, or related area, or 9 years’ experience in human resources, communications, business, or related area. Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management certification (PMP) or relevant advanced degrees; experience in large‑scale transformation and AI integration projects is highly desirable.
