We are actively seeking an experienced Director, Sales to join our dynamic team. This position reports to the Vice President of Sales and offers the flexibility to work remotely from a home office located within the state of Texas.
Position Summary
Rimini Street is expanding its sales force to accelerate growth and strengthen leadership in the independent software support market. The Director, Sales will lead a team of 5-8 Account Executives, help exceed aggressive regional sales goals, hire and train the team, and support Rimini Street’s continued expansion. The company has historically delivered 30%+ annual growth. The ideal candidate has a track record of opening new markets, building pipelines, closing business, and leading a sales team in high-growth enterprise software or software-related services with annual revenues of at least $100 million. Experience selling ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) or solutions into SAP/Oracle customer bases is preferred. A strong network in SAP and/or Oracle markets is advantageous. This is a quota-carrying position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the VP of Sales by growing, mentoring, and leading a subset of the region’s sales team
- Hire, onboard, train/develop, and manage a team of 5-8 account executives that consistently overachieve targets
- Ensure the success of direct reports by collaborating with corporate support functions
- Develop and execute plans to exceed quarterly quota targets
- Guide prospects to Rimini Street solutions using a Solution Selling approach
- Collaborate with Leadership Team to set sales strategy and growth objectives
- Provide weekly forecasts to the South/SW Region VP, Sales
- Coordinate with marketing to drive a unified Go-To-Market approach
- Represent Rimini Street at Regional CIO and Analyst conferences
- Ensure sales activities are current and tracked in Salesforce.com
Detailed Review Of Duties & Responsibilities
Role Success
Director, Sales success is defined as:
- Maintaining a fully staffed and trained team of Account Executives hitting targets
- Ramping new hires to productivity within 6 months
- Coaching and mentoring the team for continued growth
- Mentoring AEs for leadership roles
- Meeting and exceeding revenue targets
- Expanding accounts within the territory to create higher-margin opportunities
Recruiting/Hiring
- Maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates and work with HR to avoid delays in hiring/onboarding
Onboarding
- Manage onboarding for new resources and partner with corporate functions to provide training, tools, and plans for success
- Maintain daily cadence with new resources to ensure efficient onboarding
- Serve as the first point of contact for onboarding questions and connect resources to the right function
- Define target accounts and prepare penetration plans within 3 months of hire
Training/Development
- Define and deliver a tailored training program for each AE with Enablement, Marketing, and Sales Ops
- Monitor progress to ensure ramp and early closure of opportunities
- Participate in customer meetings with new AEs (no fewer than 5) within 3 months
- Ensure mastery of relevant topics within 3 months
Managing
- Manage and grow the business and team through ongoing activities and duties
Other Responsibilities
- Travel approximately 25% for sales opportunities
- Reinforce Rimini Street culture and contribute to best practices
Experience
- 10+ years selling enterprise software and services, with experience building new markets
- 5+ years in a sales leadership role with a track record of team-building and results
- Experience with team selling and leading quota-bearing, high-volume sales reps across multiple regions
- Proven ability to open new accounts, including cold-calling and prospecting
- Experience selling to enterprises larger than $1B in annual revenue
Skills
- Sales management fundamentals and methodologies (solution selling, team selling, Salesforce)
- Sales compensation planning and models
- Cold-calling, lead prospecting and development
- Strong team management, coaching, and performance tracking

Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (depending on geography) from an accredited institution

The general salary range for this type of role is $140k-$150k, dependent on skills and experience.
