Key Responsibilities:

1. Craft, fill, and artistically decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special orders with precision.
2. Demonstrate your decorating skills by creating eye-catching cakes that align with our bakery’s high standards.
3. Organize production lists and adjust as needed to maintain product availability.
4. Visually display products attractively to entice customers while ensuring freshness and proper rotation.
5. Provide mentorship to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and support team members as needed.
6. Design unique custom cakes to meet individual customer preferences and requests.
7. Deliver outstanding customer service by courteously addressing inquiries and fulfilling customer needs.
8. Maintain a spotless and hygienic work environment, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
9. Perform opening, mid, and closing tasks while ensuring accurate signage and pricing.
10. Assist with additional responsibilities as necessary to enhance team productivity.

Desired Skills:

• Expertise in cake and pastry decoration with strong piping skills and the ability to create decorative elements.
• Knowledge of color theory for crafting beautiful buttercream blends and coordinating color palettes.
• Proficiency in various icing techniques, including Swiss Buttercream, American Buttercream, and Cream Cheese Icing.
• Ability to follow recipes meticulously and manage time effectively.
• Advanced knife skills and safety awareness regarding tools and equipment.
• Basic math skills for recipe adjustments.
• Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Consistently surpass customer service expectations in each interaction.
• A strong work ethic and the capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:

• 6-12 months of experience in a retail or restaurant context.
• Completion of Bakery Decorator Apprentice training or equivalent experience is essential.
• Prior experience in a professional bakery or grocery retail environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday.
• Engage in various movements, including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
• Work with FDA-approved cleaning products and in different temperature conditions.
• Willingness to work in both wet and dry environments, with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
• Safely use tools and equipment, including knives and heavy machinery.
• May require climbing ladders.
