Sales & Use Tax Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Sales & Use Tax Accountant to support a 46 month project focused on strengthening compliance, improving internal processes, and training staff. This role will help ensure the organization remains aligned with state and local tax regulations while enhancing team knowledge and monthly workflows. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in sales & use tax, process improvement, and training cross-functional teams. Responsibilities: Manage and oversee sales & use tax compliance on a monthly basis. Review and improve existing sales & use tax processes, identifying opportunities for increased accuracy and efficiency. Provide training and guidance to accounting and purchasing staff to enhance understanding of sales & use tax requirements. Review purchase orders (POs) to ensure proper tax application and documentation. Monitor tax activities to ensure the company remains fully compliant with applicable state and local regulations. Collaborate with internal teams to address tax-related questions, discrepancies, or process gaps. Assist with any audit support, documentation, or compliance testing as needed. Essential Skills: 3+ years of hands-on experience in Sales & Use Tax accounting or compliance. Strong understanding of multi-state sales & use tax rules and best practices. Experience reviewing POs for proper tax classification. Ability to train and coach staff at varying levels of tax knowledge. Process-oriented with the ability to identify improvements and implement solutions. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Ability to work onsite 3 days per week. Work Environment: Hybrid environment after training, which will be fully onsite.
