Contact Representative

This position is located at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. The duties include providing information and assistance based upon personal, written, or telephone inquires concerning both inpatient and outpatient medical care from civilian sources under the TRICARE program. Detailed advice on benefits covered, eligibility requirements, exclusions of certain diseases or conditions, coverage of medical conditions, out-of-pocket cost, coordination of benefits, and any applicable program rules is also provided. Information on alternative sources of care, feasibility of treatment option, billing, claims processing, and entitlement is given. Issues affecting rates, payments, entitlements, waivers, and reconsideration rights are explained to consumers. Problems for TRICARE beneficiaries and providers are troubleshooted and resolved. Coordination between beneficiaries, credit agencies, billing agencies, and fiscal intermediaries to resolve claims issues and complaints is also performed. Beneficiaries are informed and educated regarding health care benefits. Program files and records are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements. The requirements include a Personnel Security Investigation, seasonal influenza vaccinations or a recognized exemption, immunization screening, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. To qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Contact Representative, GS-0962-07: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a point of contact related to healthcare benefits program matters, utilizing automated health records systems; and communicating effectively with customers and/or medical staff. OR One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Health Care Administration. OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
