Patient Account Representative

The Patient Account Representative manages patient billing, insurance claims, payments, and account inquiries. Responsibilities include verifying insurance, resolving denials, setting up payment plans, and maintaining accurate records. The position requires strong communication, medical terminology knowledge, and proficiency in billing software. Billing & Claims: Prepare, review, and submit accurate claims to insurance carriers, including following up on unpaid or denied claims. Customer Service: Act as the primary contact for patients regarding questions about their bills, insurance coverage, and payment options. Collections: Process patient payments, manage payment plans, and collect outstanding balances. Data Management: Maintain detailed records of account activity, updating patient demographic and insurance information accurately. Reconciliation: Reconcile account balances, process refunds, and post payments. Previous experience in medical billing, collections, or customer service in a healthcare environment is required. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and patient accounting software. Understanding of medical terminology, coding, and insurance provider regulations. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate's degree is preferred.
