Underwriter Salary: $60,000–$80,000/Year (DOE) + Benefits Location: Hybrid – Downtown Kansas City Bright Minds’ client, is seeking an Underwriter to join their growing team in the Kansas City Metro area. This role is ideal for an early-career underwriting professional who is eager to manage their own book of business while building strong relationships with agency partners. The Underwriter will evaluate risk, support policyholders and agents, and collaborate across departments to ensure effective underwriting decisions and excellent service. We’re looking for candidates who are analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and in a fast-paced team environment. Key Responsibilities: Manage and underwrite an assigned book of business across multiple account sizes, classes, and territories Evaluate risk and make underwriting decisions within assigned authority levels Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners through regular communication and collaboration Analyze policyholder information to determine appropriate coverage, pricing, and terms Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues related to risk management, safety, audits, and policy servicing Maintain strong attention to detail while managing multiple deadlines and priorities Utilize strategic thinking and sound judgment when evaluating risks and making underwriting recommendations Qualifications: 1–2 years of insurance underwriting experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and general business software High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred Nice to Have: Workers’ Compensation underwriting experience To apply, please submit your resume in Word format to Msmith@hirebrightminds.com.
