Sr Dir Enterprise Architecture

Position Summary:

As the Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture, you will be the chief architect of our technological future. You aren't just drawing boxes and arrows; you are defining the blueprint for our digital evolution. You will lead the Enterprise Architecture (EA) discipline, ensuring our systems are scalable, resilient, and aligned with our long-term business goals. This role requires a rare blend of deep technical mastery (from Mainframe and Monolith solutions to Microservices) and the executive presence to lead cross-functional transformations. Key Responsibilities: Architecture Governance and Compliance:

Oversee the governance processes related to enterprise architecture and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and policies. Transformation Leadership:

Lead large-scale digital transformation initiatives, specifically bridging the gap between legacy Mainframe systems and modern DevOps-driven environments. Strategy Development:

Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture strategy that aligns with the organization's business goals and IT strategy. Build and maintain 3-5 year technical roadmaps that transition the organization from legacy environments to modern, cloud-native ecosystems. Architecture Design and Modeling:

Design and model the enterprise architecture framework, including business, application, data, and technology layers. Documentation & Visualization:

Champion a culture of rigorous documentation and architecture analysis. You will be responsible for the "Single Source of Truth" for our system topography. Technology Evaluation and Selection:

Evaluate and select technologies that best fit the enterprise needs, considering factors like scalability, security, and cost. Standards and Policies Development:

Establish and maintain architecture standards and policies to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization. Stakeholder Collaboration:

Collaborate with various stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and external vendors, to understand needs and communicate the value of enterprise architecture. Change Management:

Facilitate change management processes to adapt the enterprise architecture in response to evolving business needs and technological advancements. Project Oversight:

Provide guidance and oversight to projects, ensuring they align with the overall enterprise architecture. Innovation and Research:

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, and assess their potential impact on the business. Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate risks associated with enterprise architecture, including technology risks and alignment with business objectives. Performance Measurement:

Measure and report on the performance of the enterprise architecture, ensuring it delivers the expected business value. Training and Mentoring:

Train and mentor other IT staff in architectural principles and practices. Resource Management:

Manage resources, including budget and personnel, related to enterprise architecture initiatives. Documentation:

Maintain comprehensive documentation of the enterprise architecture, policies, and procedures. Continuous Improvement:

Continuously review and improve the enterprise architecture to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Required Experience & Skills: Technical Expertise:

Mastery of

Cloud-native patterns, DevOps (CI/CD), and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

Preferred experience in

Mainframe environments (z/OS, COBOL, DB2)

coupled Transformation Veteran:

Proven track record of leading complex migrations and organizational change-you've successfully overseen "monolith to microservices". Master Communicator:

Ability to explain the Why behind an architectural decision to key leaders across the company, and the How to Senior Developers and Engineers. Modeling Proficiency:

High-level expertise in architectural modeling tools and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Open Agile Architecture, ArchiMate, or C4 model). Analytical Rigor:

Strong capability in Architecture Analysis-identifying bottlenecks, security risks, and cost-inefficiencies before they become outages. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in hardlines distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, logistics, or supply-chain-intensive industries. Prior responsibility for IBM mainframe or other legacy enterprise platforms within a modernization context. Deep experience with event-driven architectures, integration platforms, and modern API strategies. Experience operating in a global, multi-region enterprise environment. Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field required. Master's degree (MBA or MS) preferred, or equivalent combination of education and executive-level experience.
