Your Role

The Digital Experience, Design and Content (DEDC) team's User Experience team is responsible for the user experience and look and feel of Blue Shield of California's digital products and websites. The Digital UX Strategist, Principal will report to the Sr. Manager of User Experience. In this role you will play a critical role in shaping Blue Shield of California's future-state digital products by defining end-to-end experience strategy across complex member, provider, employer, and prospect journeys. You will operate as a senior individual contributor and thought leader, translating business and customer needs into cohesive, AI-enabled, and scalable solutions. Your work will directly influence product strategy, experience quality, and the organization's ability to deliver personalized, modern digital experiences at scale.

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will: Act as the go-to specialist in designing the end-to-end experiences-from big-picture thinking to detailed execution-across Prospect, Member, Provider, and Employer/Broker digital products Present cohesive plans for UX participation with working teams and digital products Actively coach other UX Strategists and scrum team designers on best practices regarding approach to solution design and implementation Evaluate new solutions and key digital products Make recommendations to user experience, product and development leadership to improve current processes Lead end-to-end experience strategy across complex, cross-platform digital journeys, ensuring alignment between business objectives, user needs, and technical feasibility across platforms such as AEM, mobile apps, and web-based apps Define and evolve AI-enabled and data-informed design approaches, including experimentation, personalization, and intelligent automation within digital experiences Partner closely with product, engineering, data, and content teams to shape solution direction from early discovery through delivery and optimization Drive continuous discovery and service design practices to identify systemic experience opportunities and inform roadmap prioritization Establish experience frameworks, principles, and standards that enable consistency, scalability, and quality across the digital ecosystem Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience

Requires a college degree or equivalent experience Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience Requires deep expertise in full-stack product design, including UX, interaction design, visual design, service design, and advanced prototyping using industry standard tools like Figma Requires proven experience leading experience strategy and design for complex, multi-journey digital products across AEM, mobile apps, and web-based app platforms like Angular Requires strong ability to partner with product and engineering leaders to influence roadmap decisions and solution direction Requires experience applying AI-informed or data-driven design practices, including experimentation, personalization, or intelligent automation within digital experiences Experience coaching or mentoring senior designers and strategists in modern product design and continuous discovery practices Hybrid

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
