We cover breaking news, politics, pop culture, and more with a distinctive voice that engages a dedicated audience. About the Role The Daily Beast is seeking a Weekend News Editor to help our dynamic newsroom. The ideal candidate will have experience editing breaking news, a sharp editorial eye, and the ability to drive compelling and impactful news coverage from Wednesday through Sunday. The role’s hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Key Responsibilities Overseenewscoverage across these shifts, ensuring timely, accurate and engaging reporting. Assign and edit stories, providing guidance to reporters to produce high-quality content. Monitornewstrends and stay ahead of the competition. Curate The Daily Beast’s homepage and update social feeds with fresh content. Maintain high journalistic standards and uphold The Daily Beast's editorial voice. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of experience in journalism, with at least 2 years in aneditingrole. Exceptional writing,editing, and communication skills. Strongnewsjudgment and the ability to make quick editorial decisions. Deep understanding of digital media and audience engagement strategies. Compensation The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, performance and other factors.
