Overview TITLE: Technical Writer (Web Content/Web Applications)
DURATION: Remote long term contract
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining clear, accurate, and user-focused technical documentation that supports enterprise technology platforms, systems, and processes. This role partners closely with architects, engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate complex technical concepts into concise, consumable documentation that supports operations, governance, compliance, and end-user adoption.
Required Skills and Competencies The candidate must possess well-developed and demonstrated skills in enterprise applications and web content with some project management expertise
Strong technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Ability to understand and document complex technical systems and architectures
Experience working with technical stakeholders across infrastructure, application, cloud, and security domains
Proficiency with documentation tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, Markdown, Word, Visio, or similar platforms
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and consistency
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to tailor documentation for different audiences, including executives, technical teams, and end users
Candidate Qualifications 5+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation roles within IT or technology-driven organizations
Proven experience producing enterprise-grade technical documentation
Familiarity with SDLC, Agile, or DevOps environments
Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, or government is a plus
Exposure to enterprise architecture, infrastructure, or application documentation preferred
Education Bachelor\'s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Certification(s) Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC), ITIL, Agile/Scrum, or documentation tool certifications are a plus.
Key Responsibilities Develop, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation including system overviews, architecture documents, standards, procedures, user guides, and runbooks.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, developers, and subject matter experts to gather and validate technical information.
Translate complex technical designs and workflows into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate documentation.
Ensure documentation aligns with enterprise standards, governance requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Maintain version control, document lifecycle management, and review workflows.
Support Architecture Review Boards (ARB/TRB), project teams, and operational teams by producing and maintaining required documentation artifacts.
Create diagrams, visuals, and supporting materials to enhance comprehension and usability.
Continuously improve documentation quality, structure, and accessibility based on feedback and evolving standard.
