
Commercial Strategy Analyst

Our core assets provide services for customers in the Delaware Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, and the DJ Basin in northeastern Colorado, and the Powder River Basin in Northeast Wyoming. Additional assets and investments are located in South Texas, Utah, and Southwest Wyoming.
We’re engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, recycling, treating and disposing of produced water for our customers. In our capacity as a natural gas processor, we also buy and sell natural gas, NGLs, and condensate on our behalf and our customers under certain gas processing contracts.

Job Summary Join us in The Woodlands, Texas, as a key member of the Midstream Commercial Strategy Team, where your insights will help shape the future of our business. As a Commercial Strategy Analyst, you’ll dive into dynamic market opportunities across the Rocky Mountain basins, turning data into direction and strategy into action. You’ll collaborate daily with our Commercial, Financial Planning, and Infrastructure Planning teams to evaluate new commercial opportunities, unlock growth potential, and drive high‑impact strategic decisions that move our midstream business forward.
Qualifications
Recent graduate of an accredited Reservoir or Petroleum Engineering program, up to 5 years of experience as a reservoir or petroleum engineer
2-5 years of industry or related experience, coupled with a degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting may also be considered
Advanced Excel skills
Proactive learner
Strong analytical skills with great attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with other departments to deliver work products within short deadlines
Self‑motivated and strong work ethic
Ability to analyze data, develop conclusions, and communicate recommendations
Independent thinker with the ability to problem solve
Takes accountability and continually strives to drive improvement
Experience analyzing well data and creating type curves and development models preferred
Responsibilities
Support the analysis of commercial development and strategic opportunities
Create and evaluate type curves and production forecasts
Maintain throughput forecasts with guidance and oversight for the DJ, PRB, Eagle Ford and other basins as required
Manage periodic reporting processes and drive improvements and efficiencies
Research, analyze, and compile competitive intelligence on customers and competitors
Monitor customer activity in the basins that WES supports
Education
Bachelors in Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering, or Bachelors in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting
Travel Requirements
Travel will be required up to 10%.
Work Schedule
This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and working remote Wednesday and Friday. Monday-Thursday are 9 hours and Fridays are 4 hours.
