OUR OPENING Journey Construction, a division of Journey Group, is seeking an experienced
Field Superintendent
to lead onsite construction operations for commercial building projects.
This role is responsible for coordinating field activities, managing subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Field Superintendent works closely with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure successful project execution from start to finish.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A FIELD SUPERINTENDENT?
Lead daily onsite construction operations for commercial building projects
Create and maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are achieved
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, materials, and equipment
Monitor project progress and identify potential scheduling or construction conflicts
Maintain jobsite safety, organization, and cleanliness
Conduct daily jobsite walkthroughs to monitor work quality and progress
Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
Ensure subcontractors perform work according to contract scope and safety standards
Perform quality control inspections on work being performed
Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions
Maintain daily jobsite reports and documentation
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to resolve issues and improve processes
Assist with shop drawing reviews and procurement scheduling
Support team development and promote a positive jobsite culture
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION NEEDED
Bachelor's or Associate degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
5–8 years of progressive experience managing commercial construction projects
Experience managing projects ranging from approximately $25M–$75M preferred
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED
Strong leadership and team coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining project schedules
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Knowledge of construction safety practices and jobsite management
Ability to collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction technology tools
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
