The

Senior Director, Functional Applications & IT Quality

will lead VB Spine’s global portfolio of functional business applications supporting R&D, Regulatory, Quality, HR, Finance, Legal, Communications, and Marketing, while also establishing and maturing the company’s IT Quality and IT Compliance capabilities.

The role is especially important in a med‑tech environment where business applications and IT controls must support product development, quality systems, regulatory requirements, and enterprise compliance. This role aligns to the current org design spanning

What You’ll Do:

Functional Application Leadership

Lead the strategy, support, enhancement, and lifecycle management of functional applications supporting R&D, Regulatory, Quality, HR, Finance, Legal, Communications, and Marketing.

Partner directly with business leaders to identify priorities, define roadmaps, and improve the fit‑for‑purpose use of applications within each functional domain.

Drive application rationalization and alignment across functions to reduce complexity and improve business supportability.

R&D, Regulatory, and Quality Systems

Oversee technology solutions that support R&D, product development, regulatory affairs, and quality operations.

Ensure these systems are configured, maintained, and enhanced in accordance with business requirements and applicable compliance obligations.

Partner with R&D, Quality, and Regulatory leaders to ensure business systems support design controls, product lifecycle requirements, documentation management, complaint handling, CAPA, and other critical processes where applicable.

Corporate Functional Systems

Oversee the application portfolio for HR, Finance, Legal, Communications, and Marketing.

Ensure systems supporting these functions are integrated appropriately with enterprise platforms and aligned to evolving business needs.

Support process maturity, workflow automation, reporting, and operational efficiency within corporate functions.

Establish and lead VB Spine’s IT Quality and IT Compliance program in partnership with Quality, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and enterprise application teams.

Define and maintain policies, standards, procedures, and controls for IT compliance in regulated and business‑critical systems.

Support computer system validation/qualification approaches, change control, documentation rigor, audit readiness, and evidence management as applicable.

Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support audits, assessments, and remediation efforts related to IT‑supported systems.

Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Partnership

Lead and develop a team of managers, leads, analysts, and external partners supporting functional applications and IT quality.

Establish a strong service‑oriented and quality‑driven operating model.

Drive close partnership with business stakeholders so that IT is viewed as a value‑added enabler rather than a transactional support function.

What You Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Business, or related field required.

Training or certifications in quality systems, compliance, validation, regulated systems, or IT service management preferred.

Familiarity with frameworks and practices related to GxP, computer system validation, risk management, and regulated technology environments is preferred.

Experience with enterprise business applications and workflow platforms across multiple corporate functions is desirable.

15+ years of progressive experience leading business applications, functional systems, or regulated technology portfolios.

7+ years in a leadership role with responsibility for teams, vendors, and cross‑functional delivery.

Proven experience supporting applications in regulated environments, ideally in medical device, life sciences, healthcare, or similarly controlled industries.

Strong understanding of functional processes across one or more of the following areas: Quality, Regulatory, R&D, HR, Finance, Legal, Communications, or Marketing.

Experience with IT Quality, IT Compliance, validation, or audit‑readiness programs strongly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to partner with business executives and functional leaders to define requirements, prioritize investments, and improve operational effectiveness.

Strong documentation, governance, and control mindset balanced with practical business execution.

Experience managing external vendors and service providers.

Ability to lead in a dynamic carve‑out, stand‑up, or transformation environment.
