The Project Director is responsible for driving revenue growth, managing project performance, and leading the successful execution of abatement projects. This role oversees project managers and field teams, develops project scopes and estimates, and ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The Project Director works closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to identify opportunities, sell abatement services, develop project scopes and estimates, manage project margins, and lead the abatement team to successful project outcomes. This role also coordinates closely with reconstruction and restoration teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Sales & Business Development
Identify, pursue, and sell abatement projects to property owners, consultants, contractors, property managers, and other clients.
Meet with clients to assess project needs and develop scopes of work.
Prepare estimates, proposals, and project plans for abatement services.
Present project solutions and secure client approvals.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and industry partners to generate repeat business and referrals.
Team Leadership & Management
Lead and manage Project Managers, supervisors, and field teams within the abatement division.
Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to support team development and accountability.
Assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding of project and field personnel.
Establish clear expectations and ensure teams follow company processes, safety standards, and operational procedures.
Project Oversight
Oversee multiple abatement projects from initial assessment through completion.
Provide leadership and support to Project Managers to ensure successful project execution.
Ensure projects are completed according to safety regulations, environmental compliance standards, and company expectations.
Financial Management
Manage project budgets, job costs, and overall project profitability.
Review estimates, change orders, and financial performance to maintain target margins.
Monitor labor, materials, and equipment usage to ensure efficient project execution.
Operations & Coordination
Coordinate abatement activities with reconstruction and restoration teams to ensure efficient project transitions and scheduling.
Maintain clear communication between clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and consultants.
Ensure accurate project documentation and regulatory compliance.
Quality & Safety
Ensure all work meets environmental regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Conduct site visits and quality checks to maintain high project standards.
Address escalated project issues and ensure strong client satisfaction.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in abatement, environmental remediation, restoration, or construction management
Proven experience estimating and selling environmental or construction projects
Strong understanding of project budgeting, job costing, and margin management
Experience supervising project managers and field teams
Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards
Valid Driver License required
Commercial Driver License preferred
Relevant certifications (asbestos) required
Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Frequent travel to job sites and client meetings
Walking and standing for extended periods on active job sites
Ability to climb ladders and access confined spaces when necessary
Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 50 pounds
Exposure to jobsite conditions including dust, airborne particles, chemicals, and varying weather conditions
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respirators as required
Salary: $80,000 - $120,000, pending experience
