Department: Children and Families | Reports to: Education Manager | Salary Range: $42,000-$60,000 annually Function To plan, implement and coordinate at the center level, a comprehensive child development program. Supervise center staff to ensure the social services, family development, support services and educational needs of children and families are being achieved.

Qualifications A BA/BS or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with education leadership/management experience. Also, experience working with economically disadvantaged children and families. One year of supervisory experience is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate and implement the total child development programming for the center.

Assess area of training needs of all center staff and assist Education Coordinators in implementing appropriate training.

Evaluate the center staff and develop improvement plans for teaching staff, in collaboration with the education staff.

Prepare and maintain written compliance reports and monthly statistical reports on center activities.

Learn and adhere to the Head Start Performance Standards, North Carolina licensing requirements and the guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and staff records requirements to ensure center compliance.

Learn and adhere to State and Federal Observation Instruments (ITERS, ECERS, CLASS).

Assist in coordinating the delivery of support services, which include: health, nutrition, disabilities services and child care requirements.

Assess classroom needs; assist in selection of materials and equipment.

Monitor and/or review the following educational required paperwork: lesson plans, anecdotal booklets, developmental assessments, parent teacher conferences, home visits, developmental goal plans, accident/incident reports, and any other required paperwork.

Assist in recruiting and enrolling children and families at the center level.

Ensure the social services needs of families have been identified and are being addressed.

Work cooperatively with Family Social Workers in the provision of family services.

Work with and train Center Lead Teachers and/or Assistant Center Supervisors to ensure continuous programming when away from the center.

Assume responsibility for the timely opening and closing of the center.

Ensure that substitutes are obtained for the center, as needed.

Supervise and assign placement and activities for individuals, group volunteers and Work First volunteers.

Monitor classroom environments, quality controls and activities and provide feedback to education staff.

Plan and conduct regular center weekly staff meetings.

Train staff and provide effective communication on program issues.

Ensure that new staff and substitutes receive initial orientation.

Monitor staff records for current medical, CPR and First Aid certifications and CDA credentials.

Monitor and report center budget and expenditures and inventories of equipment and materials.

Requisition supplies, materials and maintenance of facility.

Assist in planning and implementing monthly parent committee meetings.

Work cooperatively and collaboratively with agency staff to ensure program requirements are being met.

Ensure that all program areas of Head Start/Early Head Start integrate into the education program area.

Work with all staff, parents, volunteers and substitute teachers to implement the child development program objectives, goals and concepts.

Complete the Early Childhood Administration Credential I, II & III and participate in other training activities relevant to the job. Maintain career development plan and maintain and update all certifications, credentials, and other training as required.

Monitor and supervise NC PreK classrooms and participate in NC PreK State monitoring process when applicable.

Support WAGES mission, programs, objectives, goals and concepts to the community.

Monitor all CACFP reports.

Assist teachers in completing career development plans

Perform other job-related duties as assigned by C&F Education Manager.

Must be able to walk extended periods throughout the day for monitoring.

Mental and visual concentration required for preparing and analyzing data using a computer.
