
Director Operations Excellence

HF Sinclair is seeking a Director-Operations Excellence in Dallas, TX, who will be responsible for delivering sustainable operations by leading the Corporate Operations Excellence / L&P Group, owning the Corporate Operations OEMS element, and serving as the leader of both the Extended Fleet Leadership Team and the Ops Manager Network.
Job Duties
Acts as the primary resource for expertise related to Conduct of Operations and fulfills the role of OEMS Operations Element Network Leader.
Accountable for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HFS Operations OEMS element centered around Principles of Conduct of Operations (CoO) to achieve exceptional reliability.
Provides leadership in the development and implementation of operation strategy with respect to OEMS operations element standards at applicable facilities.
Leads and mentors Ops Leaders to deliver exceptional operational performance through effective implementation and execution of OEMS conduct of operations principles.
Oversees the creation of OEMS Operations standard content through leadership and collaboration with cross‑functional and operations element teams.
Assures competency of OEMS Operations Element performers.
Collaborates with senior executives to ensure strategic plans are defined and business objectives are delivered, and interacts with peers to ensure alignment and synergy with respect to OEMS Elements.
Identifies and implements solutions for OEMS Operations Element improvements.
Ensures consistent application of OEMS operations standards and continuous improvement of the process.
Assures applicable leadership teams have defined strategies to implement and fulfill OEMS operations element requirements.
Applies industry updates and best practices to continuously improve work processes responsible for.
Maintains and improves OEMS operations metrics for performance improvement.
Develops, implements, sustains, and improves the culture, systems, and talent necessary for assuring site operating team capability (how HFS Sinclair hires, educates, and develops highly capable operators and operations supervision to achieve exceptional operational reliability).
Special assignments or tasks may be assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience A minimum of 15 years of extensive industry and on‑the‑job experience is required.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Management or Engineering) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education: A Master’s Degree is preferred.
Required Skills
Previous leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility in Refining Operations is required.
Previous Operational Excellence Management experience in Refining Operations is required.
Proven leadership ability. Good spreadsheet, database and word processing applications knowledge; advanced time‑management, organizational, project planning and management skills; demonstrated competency in the execution of multiple projects. Advanced verbal and written communication and reading skills; advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to others; presentation, negotiation and organizational skills; ability to communicate technical plans, strategies and designs with all levels of the organization. Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations. Proficient in procurement, inventory control and cost containment; knowledge of refinery principles, safety practices, and regulatory compliance procedures. Strong business acumen and powerful negotiation skills, knowledge and understanding of overall business and marketing objectives, strategic acumen and problem‑solving skills with the ability to turn findings into executable plans. Ability to effectively prioritize projects and manage available resources.
Preferred Skill: Advanced understanding of Refinery Management and Operations.
Direct supervision of employees as required.
Work Conditions Office based with travel up to 50% by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, and outdoors environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. Subject to all temperatures, weather, and varying road conditions.
