Architectural Designer

Description This role will work on project teams and independently on architectural and design projects and often coordinate project design and execution efforts. The Technical Designer will work with the larger team to develop design concepts for projects, prepare presentations and design drawings, produce construction documents, work with jurisdictions on permitting, and assist in the construction phase of projects.

Responsibilities

Create and develop schematic design solutions for presentation to Clients, develop designs for coordination with consultants and suppliers, and produce construction documents for jurisdictional approval and use in the field

Provide design and technical support throughout the project lifecycle, coordinate communication with Clients and consultants, team members, and contractors to help bring the project to a successful completion

Provide site-survey support to create thorough and complete as-built documents (Matterport / Leica scanning experience a plus)

Manage project data and issuances via ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud), including coordination with internal construction support on design-build projects

Coordinate with jurisdictions during due diligence, permitting, and construction phases to ensure compliance with relevant codes / requirements

Provide construction phase support in the form of RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site observations, field reports, etc. to ensure compliance with design intent and resolve issues that may arise

Research materials and products to provide sustainable and realistic solutions for clients

Adapt to a changing work environment and bring new ideas and technological solutions to the team for consideration and adaptation

Qualifications

5–10 years of relevant professional experience in commercial projects, preferably in an interior design or architecture environment – licensure is not required

Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited university – being on the path to registration is a plus, though not required

Strong organizational and communication skills, personal and team time management skills, a positive office attitude, and professional presentation

Ability to communicate design concepts and detailing strategies quickly and clearly

A quick learner who can prioritize and handle multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously

Strong design thinking and spatial reasoning, with working knowledge of materials and interactionsWorking knowledge of relevant building codes and how to navigate them

Solid understanding of interior detailing and a general knowledge of exterior detailing

Experience coordinating amongst various consultant disciplines (C, S, M, E, P, F Engineers; lighting, A/V, IT, décor, branding, etc.)

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp; working knowledge of various rendering and visualization plug-ins or software

Other software currently used includes Autodesk AEC Collection, Autodesk ACC, SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop, and MS Office Suite

LEED or WELL credentials are a plus; the firm is committed to delivering projects as sustainably as circumstances reasonably allow, and any related experience is welcomed for discussion during the interview process

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
