THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a services-oriented company with a smaller software offering. This is a 9-month consulting opportunity supporting the business through an anticipated sale process. Our client is seeking an Interim Director of Operational Finance to provide senior-level analytical, diligence, and operational finance support during a period of heightened transaction readiness activity. Reporting into finance leadership, this role will partner closely with key stakeholders to strengthen historical analytics, support sell-side materials, manage diligence requests, and deliver insight across critical operational workstreams. This role is fully remote, though candidates in the New York City area are preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead historical financial analysis to support sell-side readiness and transaction-related decision-making. Support diligence preparation, including managing requests and coordinating responses across finance and external partners. Prepare clear financial schedules, supporting analyses, and light presentation materials for leadership and transaction stakeholders. Oversee key workstreams tied to revenue, billable hours, utilization, and profitability analysis. Support improvement of monthly balance sheet reconciliation processes and related working capital analytics. Evaluate cost of revenue, payroll allocation, and other operational finance analyses tied to exit preparation. Review software capitalization support and help strengthen related methodology and documentation. Organize financial data into clear, defensible analysis for leadership, advisors, and potential buyers. Act as a hands-on operational finance lead who can both manage resources and work in the details. REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required. Director-level finance professional with experience across both accounting and FP&A. Early career foundation in accounting, with progression into operational finance leadership. Prior experience supporting a sell-side process, diligence workstreams, or transaction-related finance activity. Strong historical analytics and financial modeling skills. Ability to prepare clear supporting analysis for sell-side materials and diligence requests. Strong operational finance background, including revenue, cost, and profitability analysis. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, consultants, and workstreams in a fast-moving environment. Service industry experience preferred; software exposure is a plus but not required.
