Responsibilities

Perform patient registration functions by interviewing patients or their responsible parties to obtain identification and demographic information.

Verify insurance and other payer benefits and perform upfront collections.

Determine eligibility and arrange for admission of patients to the hospital following policies and procedures.

Obtain signatures of individuals responsible for payment and explain hospital financial obligations.

Answer telephone calls and direct them appropriately.

Assist with ordering office supplies as needed or requested.

Assist in preparing letters and sending correspondence as requested.

Qualifications

One to two years of medical/healthcare business office experience preferred.

Excellent customer service skills are required.

Computer skills required.

Good verbal communication skills in English/Spanish required.

Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, attendance at required training, and immediately reporting any suspected compliance issues to the Compliance Officer.

Education / Licensure

High School diploma, GED or higher education required.

Complete the CPI training within 6 months of hire and maintain certification thereafter.
