Community Engagement Data Initiative (CEDI) Intern Strategic Intelligence & Information (SII) Division

Hourly Wage: $17/hour

Hours per Week: Approximately 20

Duration: 1-year

Position Summary This intern position will support the implementation of the Community Engagement Data Initiative (CEDI), a cohort-based program designed to strengthen the data and evaluation capacity of grassroots and faith-based organizations in Central Indiana. Working closely with the Strategic Intelligence & Information (SII) team, the intern will assist with program coordination and logistics, learning session planning/prep, participant communications, and other operational tasks that support CEDI. This internship is designed as a structured learning experience. The intern will work under close supervision and will not be independently responsible for program deliverables, external reporting, or final decision-making authority.

This role offers hands‑on experience in program development, project planning, and nonprofit community‑based research.

By the end of the internship, the intern will:

Gain practical experience in nonprofit program coordination and execution of cohort‑based capacity‑building initiatives

Develop foundational skills in survey administration, data cleaning, and basic analysis

Learn how evaluation findings are synthesized for internal leadership and reporting for funders and external stakeholders

Strengthen professional communication skills in community engagement settings with internal and external stakeholders

Understand how inclusive data practices inform program design, evaluation, and organizational decision‑making for nonprofits

Program & Cohort Support

Assist with coordination of CEDI cohort activities, including monthly learning sessions, 1x1 sessions with cohort participants, and office hours

Support preparation of participant materials (agendas, slide decks, handouts, follow‑up resources)

Help track participation, attendance, and engagement of cohort participants across sessions

Data & Evaluation Support

Assist with administering pre‑ and post‑assessments for CEDI participants through SurveyMonkey

Support data cleaning, organization, and basic analysis of survey and evaluation data

Support supervising staff in documenting overall progress, tools developed, and milestones reached for CEDI participants

Assist with compiling summaries and visuals for internal reporting and funder updates

All external‑facing reporting materials will be reviewed and finalized by supervising staff.

Community & Research Support

Support basic research on community data sources relevant to participating organizations

Assist in organizing templates, tools, and resources shared with cohort members

Help prepare summary documents highlighting lessons learned and participant feedback

Administrative & Special Projects

Support scheduling, note‑taking, and documentation for CEDI‑related meetings

Assist with special projects related to CEDI implementation, evaluation, or reporting as needed

Special projects will align with the intern’s learning objectives and development goals.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in public policy, social sciences, data analytics, public health, nonprofit management, or related field

Interest in data analytics, evaluation, community research, or nonprofit work

Strong organizational and communication skills

Comfort working with Excel or Google Sheets

Ability to handle confidential information with care

Experience with surveys or basic data analysis (preferred, not required)

Familiarity with community‑based or nonprofit work

Interest in equity‑centered or community‑informed data practices
