Role Description The Landprofessionalis a fully competent individual contributor responsible for delivering expert guidance, execution, and problem-solving across all land functions.This role supports a startup environment where versatility, autonomy, and high-level technical capability are essential. The ideal candidate is a seasoned land professional who thrives in a dynamic setting, can flex across priorities as the business evolves, and brings deep experience in both traditional Landman duties and administrative land functions.
This role will serve as a trusted resource for complex land matters, support cross-functional initiatives, and provide mentorship and knowledge-sharing within the land team. This position does not include direct people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities Confirm land and mineral ownership, surface rights, leasehold status, and acreage availability for lease or purchase. Negotiate leases, surface useagreements, right-of-way agreements, extensions, ratifications, and other contracts with landowners and stakeholders. Draft, review, and administer land agreements, ensuring accuracy, enforceability, and alignment with operational needs. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing leasing, drilling, spacing, pooling, and production activities. Support due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, trades, and farmouts. Provide expert support across all land functions, including title, curative, leasing, division orders, and land records Independently manage complex or high-priority land matters requiring advanced judgment and experience Serve as a technical resource and advisor to the land team and internal stakeholders Assistwith process improvement, documentation, and best-practice development Support special projects and evolving business needs as assigned Collaborate closely with the VP of Land, Title Manager, Surface Land Manager, and Director of Land Administration
Qualifications 5+ years of experience in Oil & Gas Land Strong understanding of regulatory, contractual, and operational considerations affecting upstream oil and gas land Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with landowners and stakeholders. Proven capability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and solve complex land issues with minimal direction Excellent communication and organizational skills Proven ability to provide mentorship and technical guidance without formal supervisory responsibility Success in this role requires adaptability, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset. The Landprofessionalis a trusted expert who ensures operational excellence and strategic alignment across all land functionswhile supporting the rapid growth and flexibilityrequiredin a startup environment.
Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $185,000. Actual individual salaries aredeterminedthrough a wide variety of factors including but notlimited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other organizational needs. In addition, our Benefits & Compensation package includes medical and dental coverage, 401(k)match, and generous paid time off.
