Internship Exploring General Business & Beyond
The Vineyard Staff Program is a unique discipleship opportunity that blends real-life work, biblical study and mentorship, and the support of a vibrant Christian community. As Vineyard Staff, you’ll serve behind the scenes at our Martha’s Vineyard property, while pursuing Jesus, growing spiritually, and experiencing the joy of community life.
Are 18 or older and have completed at least one year of college (college graduates welcome!)
Desire to grow in their faith and seek God’s leading in their lives
Are committed to all aspects of community life: work, Bible study, mentorship, and fellowship
Have a teachable spirit and a cheerful, hardworking attitude
Are willing to obtain lifeguard certification (for Programs Office or Facilities roles)
Can attend training week (May 24–30, 2026, during College Week)
Can commit to one or both sessions (preference given to those available for both):
Session 1: May 31 – July 7
Session 2: July 7 – August 12

“For I am determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” — 1 Corinthians 2:2 Your faith will be strengthened through worship, study, prayer, fellowship, and service as you draw closer to Christ.
“To Timothy, my true child in the faith…” — 1 Timothy 1:2 Each staff member is paired with a mentor who meets regularly with you for prayer, encouragement, and spiritual guidance.
Work
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” — Colossians 3:23 Serving in the Programs Office, Kitchen, or Maintenance, you’ll labor diligently and excellently, knowing your service supports the Gospel work happening through FOCUS.
Community
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” — Mark 10:45 Living in staff housing, you’ll learn the joy and challenge of authentic Christian community being known, serving others, and growing together.
Highlights & Benefits
Bible Study: Weekly Bible Study rooted in scripture, focusing on exploring who God is, who we are, and how to live in a growing relationship with Him.
Fellowship Gatherings: Weekly gatherings that strengthen community and faith.
One-on-one mentorship: Each staff member will meet weekly with a dedicated staff mentor for encouragement and personal growth.
All bible study and fellowship programming is in the evenings, leaving room for work and rest during the day.
Practical Benefits
Free Housing: Shared staff housing on-site
All Meals Included: Three meals daily plus snacks. No one goes hungry at FOCUS!
Competitive Pay: $1,680 per session ($3,300 for the summer) plus $310 for training week
Travel Reimbursement: Up to $500 each way for travel to/from Martha’s Vineyard
Vacation: 1 day off weekly, plus 4 additional paid vacation days for full-summer staff
Transportation: Approved drivers may use FOCUS vehicles during free time

Refrain from alcohol, drugs, and tobacco during employment
Refrain from dating or pursuing romantic relationships within the FOCUS community for the summer
Respect the 11 PM campus-wide curfew
Abide by property guidelines (no TVs; laptops allowed; no pets)

FOCUS Vineyard Staff Job Descriptions
Preparing and serving meals and desserts
Managing and leading volunteers in preparing and serving meals
Educating kitchen volunteers on proper cleaning techniques
Washing dishes and putting them away
Preparing any food needed for the next meal
Doing any kitchen laundry that needs to be done
Office:
Working with Program Directors to provide for the needs of each program
Answering the office telephone and respectfully communicating with parents and staff
Coordinating transportation days
Preparing leader packets and other handouts
Organizing supplies for games and events on- and off-property
Providing hospitality for guests staying in the cottages by preparing their housing (including cleaning the rooms and bathrooms)
Serving as a lifeguard for the program
Managing the linen closet and laundry room
Facilities:
Fixing things that break on the property
Maintaining the appearance of Study Center grounds
Cleaning and maintaining vehicles
Helping the office with games and other events
Providing the “heavy lifting” for all that happens at the Study Center
