Senior Technical Writer and Configuration Manager

Are you ready to make a significant impact in supporting the U.S. Navy's PEO IWS-X initiative? We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer and Configuration Manager to join our dynamic team. In this essential role, you will create meticulous technical documentation, including procedures, build instructions, and deliverables that meet program standards. Your responsibilities will also include the management of configuration documentation and version control, ensuring compliance with U.S. Government (USG) export control laws and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) requirements. This position is designed for a proactive problem-solver with a strong technical foundation who excels in collaborative settings. Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain clear technical procedures, build instructions, and user manuals for KVM-based virtualization and system security integration.

Create and manage contract deliverables, ensuring compliance with program specifications and export control regulations.

Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and program managers to gather and convert technical information into user-friendly documentation.

Oversee configuration documentation and version control, ensuring meticulous tracking of all updates.

Ensure that documentation aligns with relevant standards, including USG export control laws and FMS requirements.

Review and enhance technical content for clarity, accuracy, and coherence.

Assist in developing training materials and presentations for system deployment and integration efforts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in English, communications, technical writing, or a related field; a technical background is a strong plus.

Active DoD Secret Clearance is required.

Willingness to commute daily to the Dahlgren, VA area.

5+ years of experience in technical writing or configuration management, especially in defense or high-security environments.

Familiarity with defense documentation standards is beneficial.

Proficient in version control systems and configuration management tools.

Essential Skills:

Strong analytical skills paired with a keen attention to detail.

Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, Visio) and configuration management applications.

Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into accessible documentation.

Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to manage diverse priorities.

A background in systems engineering, software development, or hardware systems is highly advantageous.

Outstanding communication and teamwork skills are essential for successful collaboration across teams.
