Overview The

Technical Sales Representative, Machine Applied Coatings (MAC)

role is responsible for driving sales of OEM paint solutions to strategic lumber and building material (LBM) manufacturers and distributors. These customers pre‑stain, pre‑prime, and pre‑finish building materials in factory environments. You will manage large, multi‑site customer accounts while developing new business opportunities and leading technical sales projects. You will work cross‑functionally with internal teams to deliver customer solutions and support market growth. You will report to the MAC Sales Leadership team and work in a remote environment with travel within North America, primarily the Western United States.

Key Responsibilities

Primary focus and accountability to grow profitable sales within the Machine Applied Coatings segment.

Manage and grow large, multi‑location customer accounts while developing new business opportunities.

Lead and coordinate customer projects including technical support, product development, inventory planning, and marketing initiatives.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders across multiple functions.

Conduct pricing, margin, and profitability (P&L) analysis to support sales strategy and customer programs.

Develop and manage customer purchasing programs and provide regular sales performance reporting.

Partner with internal teams including technical services, marketing, and product management to deliver customer solutions.

Lead cross‑functional projects supporting market initiatives and ensure timely execution.

Maintain regular relationships at multiple levels within customer organizations and provide value‑driven insights.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Proven success in sales and business development, managing large accounts in related industries.

Strong relationship‑building, networking, and communication skills.

Experience with project planning, sales program development, and financial analysis.

Self‑motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.

Proficiency in computer applications, presentations, and reporting tools.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50%.

Preferred: 5 years’ experience in wood coatings, building materials, or industrial coatings, including flat line or spray application.

Preferred location: Western United States (Oregon preferred).
