Position Summary The Territory Account Manager is responsible for growing Independent Electric’s market presence across northeast Kansas. This role focuses on maximizing revenue from existing accounts through strong account management, developing new accounts by strategic prospecting, and always delivering exceptional customer service. You will nurture existing customer relationships while aggressively pursuing new business to expand the territory’s revenue potential.
What You’ll Do
Promote and sell Independent Electric’s full line of products and services using compelling, well-prepared presentations.
Lead Management & Follow‑Up
Respond quickly to assigned leads and written quotations to reinforce our commitment to customer satisfaction.
Territory Planning & Strategy
Organize daily travel and sales calls efficiently to maximize customer interaction and minimize unnecessary drive time.
Relationship Building
Become a trusted advisor by understanding customer needs and delivering solutions that drive real value.
Customer Support & Resolution
Address customer concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring positive long‑term relationships.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of travel, expenses, and customer activity.
CRM Management
Update CRM software with customer data, sales activity, and pipeline progress to support organizational visibility and forecasting.
Participate in sales meetings, share ideas, and collaborate closely with sales and operations teams to achieve territory and company‑wide goals.
What You Bring to the Team
Team‑Oriented: Works seamlessly with operations, inside sales, and service departments.
Sales Experience: Proven success in account management, business development, or a related field—industrial, electromechanical, or technical sales preferred.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage customers, present solutions, and negotiate confidently.
Self‑Motivated: Works independently while remaining aligned with team objectives.
Organized & Strategic: Excellent time management and planning skills.
Technical Aptitude: Willingness to learn and confidently represent our products and services.
Tech‑Savvy: Comfortable using CRM tools to track leads and manage customer relationships.
Valid Driver’s License: Travel within the assigned territory required.
This position will be based out of our headquarters in Kansas City, KS to service the northeast Kansas territory of accounts. Hours of operation are 8am to 5pm. This role is expected to be either visiting customers, prospecting, or working out of the office during operating hours. In addition, occasional after hours calls and inquiries from customers will need to be handled in a timely manner.
