Position Summary

The WIC Outreach Specialist is responsible for the outreach and local vendor support activities of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program. * This is a temporary position targeted to end around September 2026* Essential Functions of the Job

WIC Support Services: 70%

Target, attend and document community outreach activities Regularly, promote WIC services and other communications on social media Network with community agencies, i.e. hospitals, department of social services, etc. and provide updates and resources to WIC employees Conduct various outreach activities including surveys using the CDPH WIC assigned messenger platform Target outreach activities to current and former WIC participants who have missed their appointment Target outreach to WIC eligible SYHealth patients Demonstrate openness to organizational changes Local Vendor Support 20%

Conduct and report quarterly technical assistance (TA) visits of existing WIC authorized vendors Conduct onsite preauthorization visits (OPV) of vendors applying to become WIC authorized Participate in assignments that require vendor interaction, such as promoting participation in vendor surveys or conducting shelf price surveys Ensure State and Federal compliance of WIC vendors by visiting them on a regular basis, providing updated program information Client Services: 10%

Participate in the certification process of WIC clients and other direct service as needed Respond to vendor related complaints; notify the appropriate personnel (State/WIC management) of any suspected fraud or abuse from vendors and WIC shoppers Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed Performs other duties as assigned Job Requirements

Experience Required

Ability to work with and understand populations of diverse backgrounds Education Required

High School Diploma or GED equivalent Certifications and Licenses Required

Valid California driver’s license & vehicle insurance Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job

Must have excellent English speaking and writing skills Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job

Proficient in MS Office Good organizational skills and time management Good attention to detail Equipment Used

General office Equipment to include Personal Computer, Phones, Fax, etc. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Travel to local WIC vendors, WIC sites, and meetings as necessary Prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, may require the ability to move up to 20 lbs. with proper equipment Schedule will require some Saturdays and evenings Universal Requirements
