About the Job The Buyer is responsible for managing the end-to-end retail merchandising process, including product selection, vendor negotiations, and inventory planning. This role plays a key part in executing the company’s buying strategy by ensuring that product assortments meet customer demand and align with brand and financial objectives. They may also lead and mentor junior-level buyers, providing guidance and support in daily operations and development.

Responsibilities

Lead the product selection process for a specific category or a broad range of categories, developing buying strategies that align with company goals and customer preferences.

Negotiate prices, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers to secure favorable deals, manage relationships and ensure suppliers meet performance expectations; control the buying budget to align with financial targets.

Monitor profitability of the products selected and make adjustments to the assortment as needed.

Forecast demand, adjust inventory levels based on sales trends, and manage stock to avoid overstocking or stockouts.

Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and consumer behavior to inform product mix decisions.

Stay ahead of trends and make strategic decisions based on data and intuition.

Collaborate closely with marketing, finance, and supply chain teams to integrate purchasing strategies across the company.

What it Takes to Join

3-5 years of experience in retail merchandising with a deep understanding of market trends, product categories, and customer behavior.

Strong negotiation skills, financial acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership abilities.

Ability to balance customer demand and profitability in decision-making.

Salary Range $100,000-$110,000

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.

Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; frequent interruptions.

Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors.

Hotel, airplane, and car travel may be required.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work Full‑time position. As a national retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. Operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
