
Digital Production Associate - Digital Product Development & Operations Group (O

We have an opening for a full‑time Digital Production Associate at Penguin Random House. This position is part of the Digital Services Team within the corporate Digital Product Development & Operations group.
In this role you will primarily be working on proofing and reviewing accessibility components in ebooks for Penguin Random House Publisher Services clients. You will also assist with converting print files into ebooks for a variety of types of books, routing these files for review and making any necessary adjustments. You may also help with other project work as the team helps our clients update their backlist files.
It is a great opportunity to use your copyediting and proofreading skills, to learn about ebook production and formatting, and to be a part of a close‑knit team working in a rapidly changing, deadline‑driven environment. This role includes both independent and collaborative assignments, with room for skill acquisition and growth.
Responsibilities
Work with the Accessibility team to make routine manual accessibility improvements to initials and update, including editing and proofing image descriptions.
Prepare print production files for third‑party vendor conversion, perform first‑round quality control of the completed ebook, and manage any subsequent vendor reworks.
Update ebook files at client request.
Troubleshoot and relay quality issues from market to clients.
Route assets through full production cycle (conversion, quality review/approval, and distribution) according to schedule.
Maintain title‑level database records, updating them with project status, complexity, workflow selection, and additional info.
Participate in discussions within internal and external teams as we work to improve our production and accessibility processes and the digital reading experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Copyediting and/or proofreading skills.
Experience with HTML, CSS, and HTML editing software.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to track multiple projects traveling on different schedules simultaneously.
Ability to manage time effectively amid changing priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to ask questions and raise issues.
Strong sense of teamwork.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Proficiency in Mac OS.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in customer service driven environments.
Experience with creating and/or editing EPUB files.
Experience with FileMaker Pro (or other database software).
The position is open to remote candidates based in the United States who are able to work on Eastern Time. The Penguin Random House national headquarters is located in New York City.
The salary or salary range for this position is $56,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
