Studio Designer

The Studio Designer is a vital member of the Interface Design Studio. This role will rely on your creativity, proactiveness, and self‑guided problem‑solving skills to help propel design at Interface to the next level. The ideal candidate will report to a Lead Designer and be a natural communicator, customer‑oriented, and open‑minded, with a positive attitude and a strong desire for personal growth.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an art and design field; architecture, interior design, textiles/fibers, or related field preferred

In lieu of degree, equivalent relevant work experience is acceptable

Experience Requirements:

Minimum 1-2 years of design experience

Experience in flooring or related industry (furniture, lighting, textiles, wallpaper, etc.) a plus

Skills Requirements:

An eye‑catching portfolio that demonstrates a deep understanding of diverse aesthetics, sophisticated taste level, innovative design, and attention to detail

Knowledge and passion for current trends, interior design styles, and adjacent industries; particularly related to high end corporate, healthcare, and education spaces

Customer service minded with the ability to translate customer needs into functional design solutions

Capable of positively and productively responding to varying degrees of feedback

Ability to fully develop flooring designs from abstract ideas and/or limited information

Understanding of the commercial A&D design process

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; verbal and written

Strong project management skills: organizational, analytical, prioritization, and problem‑solving

Able to cope, multitask, and meet deadlines in a high pressure, high demand, fast‑paced environment

Ability and willingness to adapt, with a desire for continuous education/learning

Experience interpreting architectural plans, finish schedules, and design schematics

Proficient in a wide variety of digital and rendering design tools and software – Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, etc. Experience with CET, Callidus, Revit, Enscape, etc. are a plus

Experience with basic productivity, scheduling, and collaboration software programs: Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), Salesforce, etc.

Essentials Duties:

Interpret customer requests into design‑forward floor plans, renderings, and room scene installations

Provide material estimation for design concepts as needed

Work closely with the Interface Design Studio Manager, Lead Studio Designer, and project management team on assigned projects

Build positive relationships with customers, sales team members, and across other Interface departments; providing exceptional customer service both in‑person and virtually

Diligently monitor workflow in Salesforce to ensure deadlines are met

Maintain best practices for file management that meet system‑wide format, including consistent application of file naming conventions and file/folder organization

Comply with safety rules and environmental regulations

Complete ongoing company/department provided training

Physical demands:

Use of standard office equipment and computer

Occasional lifting and physical transportation of product samples and sample books

Frequent work under tight deadlines

Occasional travel to LaGrange, GA or Atlanta, GA (depending on primary work location)

Work Environment:

Predominantly open office environment with moderate exposure to manufacturing areas

Hybrid work schedule: Minimum 3 days/week in office, with optional work from home 2 days/week
