Job Description: Volunteer Social Media Team Position Title Social Media Team Member

Department Communications & Marketing

Reports To Social Media Manager / Communications Director

Location Remote or Hybrid

Position Overview We are seeking creative, reliable, and digitally savvy individuals to join our Social Media Team. Team members will help plan, create, and publish content across multiple platforms to grow our online presence, support organizational campaigns, and engage our community in meaningful and impactful ways. This team plays a vital role in storytelling, brand awareness, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation

Develop engaging content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok.

Create graphics, captions, short videos, reels, and stories.

Use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Canva AI) to brainstorm ideas, generate captions, or create visuals.

Platform Management

Schedule posts using tools like Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, or Buffer.

Maintain consistent posting aligned with the organization’s content calendar.

Monitor comments, messages, and audience engagement.

Brand & Messaging

Follow organizational branding guidelines and tone.

Ensure all content supports ongoing programs, campaigns, and organizational priorities.

Support event promotion and awareness campaigns.

Research & Trends

Identify trending topics, hashtags, and community conversations.

Analyze audience insights and engagement patterns.

Recommend creative strategies to increase reach and visibility.

Team Collaboration

Participate in weekly planning meetings with the media or communications team.

Share ideas for campaigns, storytelling, and engagement strategies.

Coordinate with leadership to highlight programs, events, and key announcements.

Qualifications

Required

Experience using at least one major social media platform (Instagram, Facebook, etc.).

Ability to create compelling content graphics, captions, or videos.

Strong communication and writing skills.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, including AI.

Preferred

Experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Constant contact or other design/video tools.

Familiarity with content scheduling platforms.

Understanding of audience analytics and SEO for social media.

Previous experience in nonprofit or community organizations.
