Summary Of The Role GRID Alternatives is seeking a creative and dynamic, interculturally aware person to serve as the Marketing and Graphics Manager. This position is part of a small but growing communications team that works to elevate GRID’s brand, mission and impact, and helps position GRID as a leader in renewable energy access for economic and environmental justice communities. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role is responsible for overseeing the department’s branding, providing high‑level marketing and communications strategies, and collaborating across departments and regional offices to support GRID’s overall marketing strategy for client acquisition for renewable energy solutions, outreach tactics for regional offices, and execution of marketing and communications activities to build awareness and community trust.
A successful candidate will be a skilled marketing and communications professional with a successful track record of marketing products to underserved communities, managing projects and staff in the delivery of strategies and high‑quality content creation that supports growth, mission impact, and organizational goals. The individual should have a keen understanding of renewable energy, environment or related issues.
What You Will Be Doing (essential Responsibilities) Strategy
Be a thought partner with the Chief Philanthropy and Communications Officer and Director of Communications in executing high‑level marketing and communications strategy for GRID
Monitor and manage the GRID brand and reputation
Generate strategic goals for external audiences, to elevate and position the GRID brand
Co‑develop marketing and communications strategies with regional offices and departments to support both community outreach and program development goals
Marketing & Analytics
Enhance the marketing strategy, with the Director of Communications, to support outreach and client acquisition across the organization to build community trust and awareness
Experience in digital paid ads, email marketing strategies, and new and emerging marketing trends
Work across all GRID programs, departments, and affiliates to execute marketing tactics
Lead the team in data analysis across platforms to measure effectiveness and optimize marketing strategies and tactics; support regional offices, programs, and departments with metrics and analytics needs
Oversee and manage the website, including content management, migration, and updating
Oversee search engine marketing to grow GRID’s audiences and generate leads and conversions
Collaborate on digital accessibility across the organization
Branding
Art Direction & Design
Guide Communications Team and vendors on developing new visual design concepts – and iterating existing design concepts – to represent, promote, and support GRID Alternatives and its sub‑brands
Enhance visual brand identity and aesthetic digitally and in print, with the Director of Communications, with thoughtful and innovative design to elevate GRID’s brand
Oversee the hire of illustrators, photographers, and videographers to support creative concepts and project manage coinciding workflows
Review and approve designs, photography, illustrations, infographics, and videos
Design projects as appropriate for team balance/workload
Brand Development and Strategy
In collaboration with the Chief Philanthropy and Communications Officer and the Director of Communications team to develop an equitable and inclusive brand strategy for the GRID Alternatives master brand, including purpose, values, tone, target audiences, themes, key messages, visual assets, and storytelling.
Co‑lead on any rebranding efforts from an equitable marketing lens.
Manage the development of sub‑brands as needed.
Manage the trademarking of GRID names and logos with pro bono lawyers
Collaborate on key brand‑building efforts such as supporter acquisition campaigns, thought leadership campaigns, video storytelling for target audiences, etc.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field, or equivalent work experience
Demonstrated skill in graphic design and content production, including print and digital collateral, video, photography and written materials such as blogs and newsletters
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere
Minimum 5 years marketing and communications work related to product marketing
Minimum 3 years experience in digital and print communications management, ideally nonprofit and/or renewable energy/environment
Demonstrated skill in content production, including print and digital collateral, video, photography and written materials such as blogs and newsletters
Experience with creating systems and processes and standard operating procedures
Deep understanding of or ability to quickly gain understanding of renewable energy, environmental justice and related issues
Experience working with web platforms including Drupal and Wordpress
Demonstrated project management and leadership experience
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
It would be great if you also had
Experience tracking analytics for various marketing and communications channels, such as websites, social media, newsletters, etc.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms, mailing list segmentation and management. Knowledge of Campaign Monitor and Eventbrite is a plus.
Successful track record of creating marketing and communications campaigns
Benefits And How We Take Care Of You Compensation The compensation range for this full‑time position is $7k–$100k annually. The base pay that will actually be offered will vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.

Where you will sit & the places you may go The ideal candidate will sit in the United States.
