Senior Product Designer Premium Luxury Gentlemen Accessories WE
ZenART Supplies, New Bremen, OH, United States
Disclaimer: This position is advertised by ZenART Supplies (ECOMTRADE Ltd) on behalf of our partner company, Scriveiner. The role is specifically within the premium/luxury gentlemen's accessories category in which Scriveiner operates.
Scriveiner is a multi-award winning, affordable luxury men's accessories brand. We have won 10 awards including 5 product design awards and the King's Award for Enterprise. We were recognised by the Sunday Times as one of the UK's top 100 fastest growing privately owned companies. Scriveiner is highly profitable, founder-led, and product-quality obsessed. The business sells online and through around 1,000 retail locations.
Now we are entering our next chapter: building Scriveiner into a globally recognised, design-led household name in affordable luxury. We are hiring a Senior Product Designer to build our product development engine and shape the future of our product DNA.
Note: This role is for individual applicants only. We are not accepting applications from agencies, consultancies, or third-party recruiters.
Requirements To build and run a repeatable product development engine that takes products from research and concept through to handoff for launch execution. This role owns the product pipeline end-to-end: Insight → concept → design direction → sampling → costing → specification/QC → production readiness → handoff.
Your must haves
Superb design capability and the ability to articulate luxury cues to create amazing products that can be profitably sold at affordable prices
You must be a hands‑on executor and a world‑class project manager. You will personally progress products from inception through to launch‑ready
Proven track record taking physical products from concept through sampling to production‑ready - not just ideation
The ability to communicate and work with factories to enable designs to be turned into manufacturable products, with detailed briefs/specs, actionable sample feedback, set acceptance criteria, and QC plans
Commercial realism: cost targets, margin awareness, lead time/MOQ understanding, and disciplined trade‑offs
Comfort operating without direct reports and without heavy agency dependence
You must be able to express complex design ideas clearly in both spoken and written English
Strongly Preferred
Experience in accessories, stationery, gifting categories, luxury and/or affordable luxury brands
Experience working with global manufacturing ecosystems and quality control
Ability to work across pen‑adjacent products (metal, resin, leather, packaging) with high standards
Core Responsibilities
Own the product pipeline (research → concept → handoff)
Run ongoing category research and competitive benchmarking (materials, finishes, construction methods, price ladders, packaging, gifting)
Convert research into clear product opportunities aligned to Scriveiner brand DNA and channel strategy
Maintain a live roadmap and pipeline tracker (12-24 months) with stage, risks, owner, next actions, cost/lead‑time assumptions, and target launch windows
Define "handoff-ready" and produce handoff packs for channel execution
Hands‑on design and specification
Write design briefs that specify the desired ‘feel' (CMF, proportions, weight, tactile cues, details) and what must be avoided
Design according to brief, taking products through early prototyping
Translate designs into factory‑executable requirements: dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishes, packaging structures, and acceptance criteria
Review samples, diagnose issues, and drive iterations decisively (including clear written factory feedback and measurable pass/fail criteria)
Supplier execution, costing, and production readiness
Drive feasibility, costing, and margin realism early (target factory cost, MOQs, lead times, and risk flags)
Define quality plan: QC checklists, tolerances, inspection points (pre‑production, inline, pre‑shipment), and defect standards
Ensure materials, finishes, assembly processes, packaging, and documentation are production‑ready before release
Build a repeatable and scalable product development system
Implement a simple stage‑gate process with evidence‑based criteria and sign‑offs (you / founders / ops as appropriate)
Create templates and working standards (brief, spec, sample feedback, QC plan, handoff pack)
Establish cadence: weekly pipeline review; monthly portfolio quality/returns review with ops/CX inputs; quarterly roadmap refresh
Key working relationships
Founders: final design authority; you bring options, run process, and keep velocity high
Factory liaison: supports communication and coordination; you own direction, decisions, and standards
Ops / Supply Chain: feasibility, lead‑times, QC execution, and launch readiness
Brand / Creative: ensures design language consistency and premium presentation; you own product decisions and specs
Customer Success: returns/defect insights feed back into product improvements
Benefits
Direct access to founders and fast decisions
Annual performance bonus tied to outcomes
Paid annual leave + paid sick leave (structured for a full‑time role)
Welcome gift: a curated set of Scriveiner pens so you can experience the product details you'll help shape
