Responsible for the evaluation, goal setting, treatment and documentation of patients in the assigned patient care areas. Design, implement, evaluate and document individual and group therapeutic interventions to obtain goals and objectives of patients. Performs other clinical and teaching duties as may be required. May assume the responsibilities of facility dog handler.

Performs basic TR evaluations on assigned patients.

Complies with Hospital & Department Policies and Procedures.
Clinical Supervision
Appropriately delegates responsibilities to support staff and volunteers maintaining appropriate level of clinical supervision.

Demonstrates respect and regard for dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsive, and courteous hospital environment.
Qualifications EDUCATION
Master preferred / Minimum of a B.S. from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation Program or related field as outlined by the National Therapeutic Recreation Standards. Must hold or currently pursuing CTRS certification from National Council Therapeutic Recreation certification. Certification is required within 6 months of employment.
EXPERIENCE
1 year in a psychiatric setting and/or 2 years in child development is strongly preferred.
LICENSURE
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Certification
NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification)
SPECIAL SKILLS
The individual should demonstrate knowledge in therapeutic recreation theory, evaluation, and treatment techniques for various special population groups. Observation skills, communication skills (both verbal and written), and an ability to work with others in a multidisciplinary team is essential. The individual should also be willing and able to assume increased responsibilities as required.
