Overview

The Director of Prospect Development and Analytics is a key operational role that oversees the generation of a pipeline of donor prospects across all Individual Philanthropy Programs; including but not limited to annual, mid‑level, major, principal and planned gift prospects. Utilizing a variety of public and internal data sources, external vendors and collaborations with Moffitt systems, the Director ensures a consistent flow of viable prospects for gift officer portfolios, Planned Giving program, and provides analysis and segmentation for the Annual Giving program.

The Director ensures that systems for managing data evolve to the highest industry standards. This position leads the monitoring and analyzing of various data internally and externally to strategically identify trends, issues, and opportunities for philanthropic growth. This position provides data‑driven insights and resources that inform and guide numerous Foundation’s strategies and activities.

Under the leadership, the team will execute analytical projects, leading from solution design and data integrity evaluation through solution documentation and implementation. This position will work in a highly collaborative structure including Foundation leadership, fundraising, administrative, annual giving, planned giving, events, communications, stewardship, gift and data services, third‑party vendors, IT, data engineering and executive staff.

The Director of Prospect Development and Analytics plays a critical role across all Foundation teams in helping to ensure Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation achieves its mission and embodies its values. This includes overseeing the activities of the department staff, ensuring quality, productivity, functional excellence, and efficiency to accomplish strategic and operational objectives. In addition, this position is accountable for budget development/management, compliance, and staffing decisions. This position also ensures training, monitoring, and operations initiatives are implemented which secure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/government regulations.

Minimum Experience Required

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in fundraising to include: experience in nonprofit prospect management and research, data management, data analytics, data mining and/or data warehousing or similar data analytics work with a for‑profit entity.
  • Five (5) years’ experience managing staff and directing workflows.
  • Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) system, and strong knowledge of relationship databases, e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Experience with a business intelligence (BI) tool, e.g., PowerBI.
  • Experience preparing, analyzing, and interpreting data and philanthropic/financial reports.
  • Experience in developing strategies to build donor pipelines.

Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required

The ideal candidate will handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long‑term projects with the urgency of immediate demands. They must exhibit the skills to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization. The Director of Prospect Development and Analytics must be a highly intelligent self‑starter who demonstrates a commitment to the organization’s core mission. This individual must be able to understand, clearly articulate and operationalize the Foundation President’s ideas, thoughts, and perspectives as they relate to the organization’s internal purpose and objectives. The strategic nature of the role, the number of internal and external partners, and fast pace of the work environment require an understanding of development initiatives, as well as strong analytical and process development skills, project management experience, and interpersonal and business intelligence acumen.

They should have proven ability to manage growth; demonstrate significant accomplishments and past successes; be a strategic thinker and a hands‑on planner and problem solver; and be comfortable leading and sustaining change. Excellent communication and data visualization skills are critical. They must be able to work closely with an experienced and committed staff. The Director of Prospect Development and Analytics must communicate in a transparent and honest fashion that promotes inclusiveness, cooperation, and teamwork. In addition, they will be fast learners, diplomatic, analytical, of the highest integrity, and possess sound judgment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Preferred Experience

Experience in healthcare‑related fundraising preferred.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology, Psychology, or related field.

Preferred Education

Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Business/Data Analytics, Business, or other field.
