The AVP of Content Strategy & Operations is responsible for setting and executing the enterprise-wide content vision across all Spurs Sports & Entertainment franchises and properties, including the San Antonio Spurs, Austin Spurs, San Antonio FC, Spurs Impact, and The Rock at La Cantera. This executive leader drives strategic alignment between content, revenue generation, audience growth, and brand equity across broadcast, streaming, web, app, social, radio, and podcast platforms. The role oversees platform strategy, monetization development, performance analytics, and editorial direction while leading a high-performing content operations team.

Success in this role requires deep expertise in digital ecosystems, evolving distribution models (RSN, OTA, DTC, social monetization), media valuation, and cross-functional leadership. This leader must operate strategically and operationally anticipating industry shifts, identifying growth opportunities, and driving measurable business results.

What You'll Do:

Enterprise Content Strategy & Vision • Develop and lead a multi-year, integrated content strategy aligned with revenue, fan growth, and brand objectives. • Anticipate and respond to changes in broadcast, streaming, and social distribution landscapes; recommend strategic pivots and partnership opportunities. • Serve as executive thought partner on media rights strategy, distribution evolution, and emerging monetization models.

Monetization & Revenue Integration • Partner with Global Partnerships to create scalable, innovative sponsorship inventory across digital and content platforms. • Identify and activate new revenue streams across social, streaming, audio, short-form, and emerging platforms. • Ensure digital asset valuation is clearly defined, measured, and communicated to internal stakeholders and partners.

Audience Growth, Analytics & Performance Optimization • Establish KPI frameworks across platforms tied to engagement, reach, conversion, retention, and monetization. • Lead weekly and monthly performance reporting; translate analytics into actionable strategic recommendations. • Drive data-informed editorial and distribution decisions to maximize impact and ROI.

Editorial Oversight & Cross-Functional Operations • Oversee enterprise editorial standards, content calendars, and brand consistency across franchises. • Provide executive oversight on tentpole campaigns, major franchise moments, and high-visibility initiatives. • Collaborate across Marketing, Creative Services, Public Relations, Broadcasting, Operations, and Partnerships to ensure seamless execution.

Innovation & Digital Evolution • Champion experimentation with emerging content formats and technologies (AI-enabled production, creator partnerships, immersive content, live commerce). • Evaluate and implement systems that improve workflow efficiency, scalability, and asset management. • Represent SS&E in league and industry forums related to content innovation and distribution. (These are important, but not legally "core survival" functions. If needed, portions could be delegated.)

Leadership & Talent Development • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing Brand team in alignment with our Championship team initiatives. • Drive organizational clarity and scalability within a rapidly evolving media environment. • Establish succession planning, career pathways, and a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are:

15+ years of progressive leadership experience in content strategy, digital media, broadcast distribution, media rights, or multi-platform publishing. Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams within sports, entertainment, media, or comparable consumer-facing industries. Proven ability to build monetizable digital ecosystems and integrate sponsorship strategy into content planning. Deep understanding of evolving distribution models including RSNs, streaming platforms, DTC ecosystems, and social monetization platforms. Executive-level experience translating analytics and performance data into measurable business outcomes. Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to influence senior executives, league partners, and commercial stakeholders. Strong organizational and change management capabilities; experience leading departmental pivots and structural evolution. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Ability to prioritize multiple strategic initiatives and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, remain stationary for extended periods of time, and operate standard office and production equipment.

The employee must be able to:

Work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays during games, events, and key organizational initiatives. Travel occasionally for league meetings, industry conferences, partnership development, and special events. Move throughout arena, office, studio, and event environments as needed. Lift and carry up to 15 pounds of materials or equipment as necessary. Tolerate moderate noise levels consistent with arena, broadcast, and live-event environments.
