Medical Collections Specialist
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Collections Specialist to support their Revenue Cycle team. This role focuses on insurance follow-up and collections, ensuring claims are resolved efficiently and accurately. The department is structured with separate teams for billing, collections, posting, and IV, allowing this role to specialize in collections and claim resolution. The responsibilities include: Follow up on submitted insurance claims including paid, underpaid, denied, and no response. Take appropriate action on claims through insurance calls and appeals and resubmissions. Work through assigned claim queues daily. Meet productivity expectations of 55 claims per day or 275 per week. Utilize payer portals and internal systems to track and resolve claims. Ensure timely and accurate resolution of outstanding balances. Required qualifications include: 2+ years of medical collections experience. Experience with Medicare DDE (Direct Data Entry). Strong understanding of insurance follow-up and denial resolution. Ability to meet daily productivity goals in a fast-paced environment. Preferred qualifications include: Experience working with dialysis or renal care billing/collections. Familiarity with systems such as Waystar or similar claims platforms. Systems used include: Medicare DDE Waystar Internal claims/work queue system Payer portals The work environment includes: Remote role after training. Initial 13 weeks onsite training in Plano, TX. Must reside in the DFW area for occasional onsite meetings or trainings. Structured, team-oriented revenue cycle department.
