Job Description: The Director of Communications Simulations at the Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine in Orange Park is responsible for creating, developing, assessing, and delivering communication and professional skills course content, including simulated client encounters, throughout the first three years of the professional curriculum for veterinary students. This role involves leading, training, and managing faculty and staff in communications exam labs and the Standardized Patient (SP)/Client Programs. The Director also develops, delivers, collects, and interprets outcomes assessment data on student and SP performance, assigns student grades, and oversees case study simulation lab encounters. Furthermore, the Director leads efforts to continuously analyze, improve, and refine professional skills and conducts OSCE communication assessments each semester.
Responsibilities
Recruit, hire, and administer duties for Simulated Clients.
Communicate effectively with participants, peers, and supervisors, utilizing appropriate communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills to foster cooperation.
Collaborate closely with the Director of Professional Life Skills to ensure quality curriculum delivery.
Work in conjunction with administration and other course directors regarding simulations.
Support collaboration with other programs, such as veterinary technologies and pre-vet programs.
Supervise Simulated Clients.
Manage the onboarding and training process for Simulated Clients.
Schedule Simulated Clients according to program needs.
Evaluate and maintain the quality of Simulated Client performance.
Collaborate and contribute to the budget management of the Professional Skills Program.
Plan and budget for equipment and supplies required for simulations and communication training and curriculum.
Responsible for acquiring props and related equipment for the program.
Assist in the development and maintenance of the Professional Skills Schedule.
Coordinate adjunct scheduling with administration.
Manage student schedules for simulation labs and OSCEs.
Assist with input and maintenance of Professional Skills gradebooks.
Coordinate and oversee logistics for Professional Skills Labs and OSCEs.
Manage technology logistics and usage within the Professional Skills program, including Sim Capture System input and release settings, Sim Capture student grading and client analytics, and transferring student assessments from Sim Capture into gradebooks.
Coordinate exam proctors.
Case compilation and training.
Coordinate CEC scheduling with CEC staff and CVM administration.
Administrative duties related to OSCEs: oversee the setup and breakdown of all Professional Skills OSCEs and Labs.
Manage all other administrative duties related to the Professional Skills Course.
Supervise the hiring and management of the Professional Skills Administrative Assistant.
Participate in university committees.
Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in veterinary or communication field.
Knowledge of university program goals and objectives.
Familiarity with the veterinary medical field.
Relevant experience in higher education.
